Actually I would be interested in discussing the issues at hand.

I’m tired, I’m going to bed. If I think about it, I’ll repost them in the morning.

Ok, now I found your Q.

Here is a link to the complete report on the problems in the Texas foster care system.

Are you intentionally trying to be dense?

or just confrontational and hate-filled, per usual?

Perhaps you misunderstood my comment.

I didn’t say certain religions were illegal.

You were asking about ‘rights’, based on location, and I said it was religion.

In this particular ‘sect’ of the FLDS, the women and children have limited and transitory rights. They are treated like second class citizens, to be traded off to a new family at the whim of Warren Jeffs.

“I just put her on nearly the same level as the FLDS with her quick assertion of what “God wants”.”

Let’s say your child was involved in a hit and run.
It was severe, but the doctors performed tirelessly and did the best they could.
Your child is in intensive care, and a coma, but miraculously she recovers, and is quickly healthy again.

Your wife (or husband) tells your daughter, “God wanted you to live”.

Would you then make the same incrimination of your spouse?

” what sinners like Abraham and Jacob did.”

I don’t think that the ‘what sinners’ implicates only a specific religion, or race of people.

According to the Bible, ALL have sinned in the eyes of God.

No, not in that situation. “God wanted you to live”, so ergo sum, you do. If He didn’t, you would have died.

But , if the comment were “God wanted you to live so that you could become a nun to serve him in the Church”, I would view it differently.

There is a generic quality to your hypothetical that doesn’t get to me the way that say... “God hates faggots, so you will go to Hell” or “God wouldn’t want that - trust me, I know” does.

Or am I making any sense here?

“well, here IS THE TRUTH.”

Oh, is it? Looks like an affidavit from one dude to me.

And FLDS members have sternly denied that allegation.

Where is the truth?

Maybe we’ll know for sure some day, but today is not that day.

“Looks like an affidavit from one dude to me.”

HINT: You have to read the whole thing. Not just the intro paragraph from Smoking Gun.

Are you saying you accept the word of the FLDS members?

Warren Jeffs sternly denied being an ACCOMPLICE to SEX WITH A MINOR, yet he was convicted and is in prison.

If he is considered to be the leadership and voice of authority for the FLDS, then.....

Yes. But I think you have things backwards.

There is no reference in the Bible in relation to God’s concern for NUNS, or becoming a Nun.

There are however, several references to the well-being of children, and what God THINKS about people who would harm them.

“Are you saying you accept the word of the FLDS members?”

You really need to become more emotionally detached from all this. We are discussing a legal proceeding and what I think or what you think personally is irrelevant.

But posting the claims of one individual based on his affidavit and then proclaiming: “well, here IS THE TRUTH.” Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t, but it’s just one unsubstantiated piece of evidence to be considered.

This whole thing seems to have been set off by a serial false tipster. So, did you believe her? Where is the frantic, abused 16 year-old girl who supposed made the first call? There seem to be many people surrounding this situation with many motives other than telling the truth.
