Yes, they are, 4wb. This is a disgusting display of Time's inability to understand the sacrifice of all that fought and died to take Iwo Jima. I don't think there were many trees on Iwo Jima before it was beached. I'm certain there were few left when all was said and done.

Over 20,000 Japanese were killed, over 6,800 Allied forces died. This was the only battle where US Marine casualties (not deaths) exceeded the Japanese casualties. There were 27 Medals of Honor awarded to US troops for their actions on Iwo Jima.

Time picked an extremely poor way to make their statement about the new "Red, White, and Blue".

i am not debating man’s role in global warming, isn’t any... i am defending time’s freedom to put what they want on the cover... free speech and all...

interesting seeing those who complained about muslims getting hot and bothered about a mahamhead cartoon with a bomb, are reacting quite the same about a clever use of a historical picture...
