I got one by going to www.download.com

Saved a huge amount of clips using that, mostly of TV shows to keep me sane in such insane times.

The site also makes it easy to download the deleted video to your computer.

Most appreciated feature... thanks for that info..

If you have trouble downloading a YT video, the quickest way to acquire a YouTube video is to watch it, exit the internet. Now search your computer for a file with the ‘.flv’ extension that is dated today. Copy it to a known folder, change the name (but keep the .flv extension) and -voila-, you have your own copy.

A good tool to fight the fascist mind-control practiced by the left and the jihadis.

There are much easier ways that allow you to save it to a filename and directory you specify as it downloads. No need to log off and go hunting your hard drive for it. Like I said, there are various applications available that do this automatically. Much, much quicker than a HD search.

Correct, it has to be recent, before it gets taken out of youtube cache. The other problem is that youtube uses more than one server to put these videos on. Therefore the servers have different names. I tried real hard to find that Kwame Kilpatrick video but couldn’t get it or any of the other ones. I just lucky in getting the Farrakhan one. From now if I find a video I think might get taken down I go to.....

And save it to my hard disk.

You are of course, correct ... unless your computers are behind a firewall controlled by a totally anal network communications person who knows that his/her job is forfeit if a virus hits the LAN. In this scenario, alternative methods are viable.

Because of the proliferation of computer virus programs, it is becoming difficult to send/recive anything but a plain-text e-mail. Any communication with an attachment is quarantined, sometimes without regard to the type or content. At the rate that e-mail lockdowns are happening, I forsee the return to snail-mail as the preferred method of casual information exchange.

... makes one wonder if the USPS might be in the virus business ... /sarc

The best video downloaders I’ve seen are Firefox extensions. Load Firefox, get new extensions, and search for “video.” There are a couple available. You get an icon in your task bar that lets you download any video found on the page.

When Youtube deletes a video from public view, no later than 24 hours the file on the YouTube servers will be permanently deleted.

Also, if Freepers find a good clip they fear will be deleted, I suggest that they use the firefox browser, greasemonkey add-on, and a ‘youtube download video’ greasemonkey script.

If youtube is blocked at your place of work, then that means the issue of saving videos from that site is irrelevant. You can’t even see them in the first place! Why did you even click on the topic?

Actually, the quickest way to do it is through Real Player. Get the latest Real Player, and when you find a video that you want to keep, simply place your mouse/cursor at the top of the video, and a “download this clip” box will pop up. Very simple.
