yep and there are 6 more attack subs out there now too - more Special groups heading out.
Is he even in that part of the country?
It sounds like a good start to me. Stay well.
I don’t think so- but he has lots of contacts all over..plus he’s got such a good sense of what is happening..
Yes, exactly, I was thinking he was up north somewhere, where they were cleaning out the last of AQI.
Good point, though. I’m sure he gets good quality scuttlebutt.
Thanks for the link. I have read reports that US and British fast air have conducted low-level strafing runs in Basra. The situation sounds bad across Iraq. Lets hope than it soon stabilises.
IRAQ THE MODEL is up and running again and has some comments on these events:

Michael Yon Phones Home
Michael Yon called on his satellite phone to talk about what’s going on in Iraq. I recorded it and it’s up here for your listening pleasure — nothing fancy, just a quick recording posted less than 20 minutes after it happened. Click here to listen.
A few key points: (1) It’s likely to get worse before it’s better; (2) No one seems to doubt Iranian backing for the violence; (3) This isn’t about religion, it’s about money and power; and (4) Unlike Al Qaeda in the north, this isn’t so much a fight to the finish as violence as a negotiating tactic. It’s not a civil war. Take a listen, and then take a moment to marvel at today’s technology, which lets me do this stuff from my basement at the spur of the moment.
Meanwhile, Michael has a book coming out, Moment of Truth in Iraq. If you buy it through his site, you can get an advance copy shipping Monday. Otherwise it’ll be out in a few weeks.

Excellent, thanks for the ping.
It’s past time that al-Sadr assumed room temperature.

Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki, who is in Basrah supervising Operation Knights' Assault, has given the Mahdi Army 72 hours to lay down their weapons... Muqtada al Sadr, the leader of the Mahdi Army and the Sadrist movement, is calling for an end to the fighting... The Iraqi opposition held an emergency session in parliament, but only 54 of the 275 lawmakers attended, AFP reported. "The two main parliamentary blocs -- Shiite United Iraqi Alliance and the Kurdish Alliance --- were not present for the session which was attended by lawmakers from radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's bloc, the small Shiite Fadhila Party, the secular Iraqi National List and the Sunni National Dialogue Council," according the AFP report. The main political blocs in Iraq's parliament have given their support to the military operations by ignoring the emergency session. The Iranians have overplayed a very weak hand. Thanks Ernest.
Thanks...
