Crossover voting, and apathy likely kept the Republican numbers lower that they will be in the general election.
However, I do agree that McCain is going to have a hard time carrying Ohio.
The Dems are successfully playing up renegotiating NAFTA. NAFTA has contributed very little to Ohio's loss of manufacturing jobs, but since when does reality matter in regards to politics.
Ohio's economy is hurting, and the Dems are suggesting that they will help solve that, and McCain doesn't seem to be convincing many people that he will help address that problem better than the Democrats.
I think that Ohio having the 5th highest tax burden of any state in the nation has more to do with bleeding manufacturing jobs than anything else. Even when new American manufacturing jobs are being created, they are unlikely to be in Ohio. Even if the American economy as a whole does better, we're going to have fix our own problems at the state level if we want to see the same benefits as other states, but that's not what people want to hear from presidential candidates.
They want a quick fix, and that's what Democrats are promising.
Good lord relax. She netted 12 delegates into his 140 or so lead. Not many states left. She is on life support even if she wins out.
Ditto heads!
<”My guess is if Obamaâs not on the ticket, the Dem blacks, who have been programmed to view themselves as victims of racism, will be furious at the Dem party - “>
Correction: If Obama is not on the TOP of the ticket Blacks will go nuts.
Sounds like a plan.
Only 2 bond issues; one local and one county. Neither of which I felt was important. Right now I’m pretty frustrated with the whole political process.
Agreed. Stupid strategy from the git-go.
Lame. Do you vote for any given candidate because someone told you to?
And BTW, welcome to Free Republic!
No. Obama and his empty-suitedness (NAFTA-Gate) kept Hillary alive.
On wonders if cities like Philadelphia would yield a greater turnout for Hillary or Obama. I’d guess Hillary would generate the normal turnout of 110%, while Obama might hit 125%. Just mulling.
I’m not crazy about McCain either. But there are really things about him I admire. There’s lots of things I don’t like, too, but I’m concentrating on the positive.
Hey - give you the Ravens for the Browns hehehe!
Ironic that Rush’s theme song is what is ...

You got a Superbowl. The Browns won’t ever get one. My nickname here has become a misnomer. I’m pretty much disillusioned with Cleveland sports. The best I can hope for is entertaining teams. I’m 50 and can’t remember the last time a Cleveland team won it all, (1964, but I was too young to be aware).
Rush just likes the driving bass line in that song. She’s a raving lib, (Chrissy Hynde). She just build an upscale VEGITARIAN restaurant in a crappy part of Akron. That’s going to go over like a fart in church.
Rush has a God complex, and seriously miscalculated this one. Dick Morris is right - the Clintons are dangerous and should never be underestimated. How any Republican who wasn’t comatose during the 90’s could pull a lever for a Clinton is beyond me.
Idiots who can pat themselves on the back for their great work if this evil pair manages to pull it off yet again. Better to have slayed the dragon now, IMHO.
Just wait ‘till next year!
The quadruple threat! Quinn throwing to Edwards, Winslow, Jurivicous and DONTE STALLWORTH!
never say never
You don't have much of a sense of humor, do you Jack? And don't you ever effin' accuse me of doing drugs and drinking while driving! Jerk!
