If Huck doesn’t include Ron Paul in the debate (or petition), then we know it is not about fairness.

It’s a two-man race between Huckabee and McCain in the GOP, and Huckabee has a shot, and is the better candidate.

I trust Huckabee to pick originalist judges far more than I do McCain. McCain gutted our 1st amendment, and Huckabee is AGAINST McCain/Feingold.

McCain has wavered on our 2nd amendment, and Huckabee is SUPER STRONG on our 2nd amendment rights.

Huckabee said if they take away our 2nd amendment rights, next they will take away our 1st amendment rights, and McCain already took a chunk out of our 1st amendment.

Right on Sun.

Huckabee also has best the financial plan for America - abolish income tax and the IRS and go with a sales tax. This would create an almost overnight financial boon in America. And, as Reagan and Milton Friedman both knew, the best anti-poverty program is the free market, unhindered by excessive government taxes and regulations.

Good comments. I am no great fan of Mike Huckabee but he is 100% better than John McCain, who is a Democrat running under Republican banner to provide the illusion that we have a choice.

But Huck could make McCain look like the biggest fool on earth

Mclame does that all by himself. He doesn't need any help. That phony laugh while being confronted with a question he doesn't like is so phony it's beyond nauseating.

Huck needs to go away, he's waaaay past his freshness date.

ROTFL! I really can’t disagree with a word you posted. I think I read that McCain might have agreed to a debate with Huckster.

That ought to be entertaining.

“”“Sen. McCain should earn the respect of the Republican base by debating Mike Huckabee”

How will this help? Not much of the base cares for Huckabee either.””

Believe it or not, the anti-Huck sentiments of many of the posters here does not represent all of America.

He beat McCain 3 to 1 in Kansas and Arkansas, and is a lot more appealing to a lot of people than McCain is.

Who really cares what either one of them has to say? They worked together to knock off the real competition before the voting got to the red states and deprive the voters of a voice the nomination of their own party.

I wish I had an interest in hearing what either one of them have to say. They are tied for last on the bottom of my list.

My thoughts exactly... Tied for Last!!!

I’ll dissent from the crowd here and say that I think McCain is pretty effective in debate and interview format ... though not so much as a stump speaker.

He has zero incentive to debate Huckabee at this point, though.

Mike Huckabee is very slightly better than John McCain.

“”Hate to say it. I have never been a Huckabee fan...But Huck could make McCain look like the biggest fool on earth.

McCain should never try to out debate a professional gifted speaker like Huck.

McCain is one of the worst speakers ever, he has that whiney voice, nasty attitude etc...

McCain, creep that he is, should decline this.””

Then how could McCain hope to compete against Obama in the fall??? Or even Hillary?

If he won’t face Huckabee in a debate, then he should lose be default.

It’s not just about having debates, it’s also about campaigning, and Huckabee is like the Energizer bunny of campaigners.

Age and likeability WILL be an issue in the fall, against either Hillary or Obama, or a ticket with both on it.

Right on, Jim 0216!!!!

The Fair Tax is the most ‘conservative’ idea anyone has talked about this whole election, because the IRS, that administers the income tax / withholding, is the most oppressive, intrusive, socialist institution in our country.

Huckabee is an ardent, articulate supporter of the Fair Tax, and I believe he really “gets it”. It is the best hope on the horizon for giving power back to the people, and waking people up to the stranglehold the current tax system has on the people and the economy.

(Accountants for Fair Tax!!)

I'll give Huckster a slight advantage in that he appears to be a man of his word. McCain I don't trust at all.

Of the 14.1 million votes cast so far in the Republican primaries/caucuses the results don't indicate a strong appeal for the Huckster from Hope. At this stage he gets the anti vote which doesn't necessarily mean he is appealing.

Total vote percentage todate

McCain 38.7 %
Romney 30.4 %
Huckabee 19.8 %

Maybe Huckabee can repeat his contention that Iraqi WMD’s were shipped to Jordan. And that rather than taxpayers getting their money back we should build a interstate from Main to Florida (when on the east coast) and/or from Washington to California (when on the west coast). Yeah, he is BRILLIANT in debates./s

The total vote percentage to date is IRRELEVANT, because a lot of conservatives who voted for Romney would not have voted for McCain.

The Kansas and Arkansas numbers are a lot better indication of what a head to head matchup would look like.

They are just as relevant as your home grown numbers in AR of 3 to 1 is a representative number of what the rest of the states will do....... He was rejected by 40% of the voters in AR his home state and the voters that know him best. The Huckster didn’t even come close in Virginia or Maryland states that voted after Super Tuesday.

I don’t think you’ll find the remaining states going for the Huckster at a 3 to 1 ratio.... Polls are saying he won’t win in TX. We’ll see as it plays out.

As you can tell by my tagline, my favorite is Duncan Hunter, and what a shame we won’t have him as POTUS, at least this term.

But Huckabee is far better than McCain, & McCain is the senator who the Dems turn to when they want a co-sponsor from the “other side” of the aisle.
