He neeeds to pick Steele. Please not Crist.
Steele would be an excellent choice. He might even deliver Maryland the GOP column. 22 of 25 counties routinely go red.
Presumably Crist would deliver Florida. What is the issue with him?
To: Lancey Howard
Can’t stand Crist. Has he come out of the closet yet?

Other names in the mix include South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford...
Oh now that would be THE best choice possible:
* Mark Sanford served 3 terms in Congress for South Carolina.
* He was elected twice as Governor of South Carolina.
* Actively supports school-choice programs.
* While in Congress, he earned straight "A" ratings from the National Taxpayers Union.
* He also earned an "A" rating from both the NRA and the GOA while in Congress.
* Earned solid endorsements from various Pro-Life groups.
* Is a rational conservationist in the mold of Teddy Roosevelt.
* Is a STRONG fiscal conservative
Gov. Mark Sanford "...garnered a rating of 92 from the American Conservative Union, but displayed an occasional independent streak. He often would be one of two members of Congress, along with Ron Paul, voting against bills that otherwise got unanimous support. He opposed pork barrel projects even when they benefited his own district... Sanford professes to be a firm supporter of limited government, and many pundits have described his views as being libertarian in nature. "
We NEED guys like Mark Sanford for the future of traditional conservatism.

I definitely agree...not Crist...He is a loser...

“With the Democrats set to field the first female or black White House nominee, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has emerged as a possibility, along with Bobby Jindal, who last year became the first Asian American to win a governorship, in Louisiana.”
Bobby Jindal is Indian American if I’m not mistaken, not Asian American. Not your fault, bad telegraph UK journalist.
Squidly,
Hysterical!

Be sure to have a clean, pressed shirt and a matching tie ready, just in case.

That dynamic would only make him more popular!

Haley Barbour would be the smart choice. Effective, successful, no-nonsense, crisis-tested from Katrina in Mississippi. Can do guy who gets results. He should be the one.

We do not know that yet.
He needs more experience not only for his own sake, but so that the people know what the politician stands for.
Don’t forget, a few years ago everyone on FR was saying Rice would be a great President.
As Conservatives, we need to rise above the pop-star and ‘affirmative action’ appeal of a candidate. We must base our decisions on the content of character, experience, and native ability.
I’m not saying Jindal doesn’t have this potential, but to jump on the bandwagon for someone who has been governor for only a few months is absurd.

Plus, how old is Jindal? He might not be old enough.
I think Jindal is of Indian descent...and he is GOOD!!!! What little I've seen, I just love!! He got over 50% of the vote and didn't have to have a runoff--and there were 4 or 5 in the race. For a Republican in LA that's unheard of.

Here in Charlotte our news/talk radio station has started to air spots by Pawlenty and AZ Gov Napolitano (D) urging for bipartisan support for some global climate change bill.
If Pawlently is his choice I will puke. I just don’t think I could vote for that.

Crist...Ran on #1 issue: Homeowner’s Insurance...solution: confusion..He was going to make the Ins companies rooll back their rates...and stop policy cancellations, and let more homeowners get private homeowners ins instead of buying into the State insurance fund- the most expensive one...Result” no rate rollback, some policy cancellations stopped, and the State fund is now the State’s largest insurer—and the most expensive..Way to resolve a problem..That’s just for starters..

he might as well pick Rudy
a total contrast to dullsville McMy-friends
Rudy will at least entertain us slicing up the antiAmerican defeatest commies running on the other side
Rudy is very quick with a good comback and people like his ballsy attitude

Sanford would be great, but he’s probably going to pick his buddy Lindsay.

John Nance Garner. I think he actually said “warm pi$$,” but his remark got sanitized somewhere along the line.
