Oh and by the way, conservativism is not “fluid”, it is based on the Constitution of the United States of America. It is rock solid. You may believe so. The fact that many conservative leaders today are fighting each other says otherwise.

Rick Perry is so unpopular in Texas that he would hurt the GOP’s chances in the Lone Star State.

McCain is going with Juan Hernandez.

Questions for all:
1) Would Sanford make it more likely that youd vote for McCain in the fall?
2) How excited would you get about Sanford?
3) Has Sanford been a good conservative governor in SC?
Until #3 is answered I cannot answer 1 or 2.

Yep. He was from Uvalde and is buried there.

Please, explain. Your statement makes no sense.

The Schweiker pick did wrest a few delegates away from Ford — obviously not enough though. Now if Ford had picked Schweiker instead of Dole he might have had a chance...
Also Ford had informally promised the VP to a number of others so if he had been forced to name the choice before the Presidential ballot, then who knows what would have happened.

You are making my day! I was hoping to hear that! What has he done to make Texans so riled up?

With the possible exception of Leonides (see post #92), there is no one that is apt to make me want to vote for John McCain...

“Please not Crist.”
That would be about the worst choice, if McCain gets the nomination.

I’m not discounting what you said about Bobby referring to himself as an Indian American but I’ve been to A few Bobby Jindal events and I live here in Louisiana (obviously) and I can tell you that his ethnicity is rarely brought up, except by the media. People love him down here.

Schweiker was regarded as a liberal, he wouldn’t have helped Ford at all (in fact, Dole was picked by Ford in an attempt to appease Conservatives after the disastrous choice of having the epitome of the liberal establishment Nelson Rockefeller as VP). In fact, Reagan’s having picked Schweiker hurt him with Conservatives.

Yeah, such is the case...another Republican selling out to business while the American taxpayer subsidizes healthcare, welfare, etc...Illegal aliens will be lining up for their Matricular Cards, hoping to vote illegally in the next elections...we’re getting one in Idaho, too.
