Anyone who believes anything McCain says at CPAC tomorrow is like the pregnant prom queen who believed the promises made by the all star high school quarterback the night of homecoming. As for the results of your misplaced belief they will invariably be worse.

...conservatives don't want Hillary or Obama in the White House. They will support John McCain."

This conservative isn't gonna support/vote for McCain. RINO's are the ones putting the socialists in power by moving the republican party to the left. Fie on all of ye!

You are not being very pragmatic. Who are you going to vote for, Hillary? Is that really your plan? You will have to compromise your principals much further than I will have to voting for McAmnesty.

If Romney backs out or loses, ... I guess I'll vote for a Democrat.

The correct response to McCain’s speech would be to stand and silently face the back of the room.

Dropping trou would be optional.

"You will have to compromise your principals much further than I will have to voting for McAmnesty."

If McCain were honorable, and was truly worth your vote he would drop out and endorse a conservative dark horse candidate. He knows that he is splitting the GOP and that he will not get enough support to beat the Dhimmis in November. The only reason, therefore, for him to stay in the race now is not for the country's sake but for his own.

If he were honorable, he would sacrifice his ambition to ensure the country's well being. I would. You would. He should.

If McCain were honorable...

"If..." What a word!

With an "if" in front, you can write any impossible, unimaginable flight of fancy like associating John McCain with the word "honorable" and it comes out making perfect sense as a hypothetical proposition. But, there's no aspect of reality in there anywhere.

But, you knew that already.

If McCain fails to “reach across the aisle” to the conservative base at CPAC, it will be the big mistake of his campaign that will devastate his chances to win in November. McCain may fail to deliver words to heal the split in the Republican Party. With 504 delegates coming out of Super Tuesday, he may have such a big head (thinking of it, he does have a big head!), that he may punt the ball and miss the only opportunity he has to get the conservative base behind him. He may come off as arrogant and stiff-necked. If he falters here, it will fail to understand the real reason for the terrible turnout for Republicans on Super Tuesday. Republicans failed to turn out because the conservative base is already turned off to the poor choice of candidates left in the hunt.

I’m sorry but having McCain come and lie to us face to face is still not going to make me work or vote for him.

Well they might sticks to their principals and vote 3rd party, not vote for a Presidential Candidate , write in a candidate or stay home.

A Liberal is a Liberal no matter what party label you slap on them.

Voting for the lessor Liberal is the worse of both worlds here. That way the Democrats get their Leftist agenda pushed by a mis-labeled "Conservative" McCain administration while the GOP fractionalizes into anti/pro McCain factions and the voters blame the GOP as being responsible for the outcome of those disastrous Leftist items pushed by McCain.

You honestly think Mr “Use the Baker Commission to negotiate a deal for us to surrender Iraq to Syria/Iran while closing Gitmo and give the terrorists the legal protections of the US Constitution” McCain is going to ever going to fight with his good friends, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Russ Feingold to continue the war?

appoint strict constructionist judges

Actually believe Mr "Gang of 14 plan to surrender to the Democrats rather then fight to get strict constructionists judges appointed" McCain is going to fight his good friends Russ Feingold, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry on Judicial Appointments?

If he loses his bid for the Whitehouse, I’m sure we can look forward to the McCain-Durbin amendment, the McCain-Boxer act, the McCain-Leahy law, et al. Hell, maybe we can even get a McCain-Chavez something or other.

I really don’t get the level of vitriolic hate many conservatives have for McCain.

His voting record in the senate is 82% conservative.

Despite being smeared by the Bush team in 2000, he took one for the team in 2004 and campaigned big-time on Bush’s behalf.

He wisely orchestrated the gang of 14, which in the end benefitted Republicans more than it did Democrats. On that note, think about it this way: Imagine not being able to filibuster (the Republicans will likely remain a minority in the senate after ‘08) a Hillary nominee to SCOTUS - a nominee that would likely make Earl Warren seem like an originalist by comparison.

McCain looks inevitable to be the Republican nominee. I encourage all conservatives to get behind him, if for no other reason that despite his flaws he’s still preferable to whichever Socialist wins the Dem nomination.

No. Instead he will be arrogant and expect us to be concilliatory to him. He has no humility.

If the conservatives at CPAC truly want to be smart, then all of them should get up out of their seats all at once and then walk out of the room just as soon as John McCain begins to speak!.

I wish. What a message. Maybe, just maybe, he would finally get it.

We do not 'hate' him silly, he hates US and loves Hillary. Amazing how that voting record is his proverbial sheep clothing dress and some people swoon.
