Hey ovrtaxt... Happy to have you aboard.
Wasn’t sure and I apologize for insinuating
you into that Scripture context. God bless you.
...Jo
Quoting the Bible is neither demeaning nor silly.
“The wise of heart will receive commands but a
babbling fool will be thron down.” (Proverbs 10:8)
“Son of Man” in the context of Ezekiel 3:17 was
referring specifically to the Prophet Ezekiel.
However, I understand it also to mean Jesus, Himself.
Ezekiel 3:17-19 is the clarion call to the saints
to be obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit
as we are to be salt and light. It is NOT in our
commission to be tolerant of sin or wickedness.
Hate the sin. Love the sinner.
LS... if Scripture isn’t your baseline for truth,
instruction and the meaning of life, I’m afraid
you are without a substantive argument for ANY
religion be it false or true.
Yeah, and I do understand the “one meaning and many applications” aspect to Scripture (although others may not, and hence the qualifier that I put in there; didn’t think you intended it any different way than you said).
Amen to all you say...
Yeah, this is just a major butt kiss to try and win Fred’s endorsement and the support of the Fredheads.
Crickets?
Speaking about crickets... (excuse the side conversation...), up in Oregon you hardly hear a cricket at all. I think there may be some around, but I’ll swear I don’t remember hearing crickets up there. But, in coming back down to Oklahoma, my gosh, there are crickets galore and they virtually “scream out” at you later in the day (of course, right now it’s a bit cold for them...)
Here’s a common cricket sound....

But, when you combine about a thousand of them, all going at the same time and crescendos coming in wave after wave, it’s quite amazing... :-)
I am not a mormon, but I read the book of mormon,I can’t see how anybody made that up,it never deviated from christian principles that I seen, and for someone to make it up and keep it all in context from beginning to end truly would be amazing. Now maybe not so relevant, but I study pre-historic tribes and the Adena and Hopewell indians supposedly came from mexico, moved up the mississippi to Ohio ,then finally dissappeared in new york around 400+ AD(this theory is new),the plates found by joe smith were in new york and according to his 1830 something translation, were buried in 400+ AD,not that that has anything to do with anything, just thought it was interesting.
That’s cool. Listen, you guys can leave me off these pings. At this point, it’s pretty obvious to me that everyone’s mind is made up.
Have a great weekend!
AOK, thanks for hanging in there... over and out... :-)
You’re right. Probably time to wipe the dust from our feet.
Props to Star Traveler for a valiant effort. I know that His
Word will not return void.
It is always the Pharisees on this board who “know” THE interpretation of every verse. You remember them. The guys Jesus told to get the planks out of their eyes?
YOU quoting it is demeaning and silly the way you are doing it. And the very fact you can’t debate this without resorting to scripture suggests the weakness of your position (which is pretty obvious now to everyone by the incredible amount of words you think neccesary to counter a few simple statements).
[... (if) I can’t debate this (Mormonism is a non-Christian
cult) without resorting to Scripture, my position is weak...]
Care to discuss Mormonism without using the Book of
Mormon? I didn’t think so.
God’s Word is my ONLY defense. A debate that resorts
to Scripture actually makes my position VERY strong.
“God’s Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:105)
[... LDS, at its core, holds the Book of Mormon
above all others whilst ultimately degrading
orthodox Christian Scripture...]
You perceive well, my dear. However, if you
peruse this rather lengthy thread, you will
notice a derth of proof texts from the BOM.
It seems the Mormon warriors in this battle
are sorely ill equipped. They wag their tongue,
whilst the Christian wields the Sword (of the
Spirit).
[... If truth is what we’re driving at, then
let us ask what needs to be asked without
hating each other...]
At last, the adults have arrived. LOL!
