After the bomb exploded she was shot 5 times in the chest and neck, then the gunman blew himself up. She bled out from the neck wound.

I am concerned about the market today....I have my trigger finger ready to sell...even for a small loss...

Very minor reaction from the markets today. Bonds up nicely on safe-haven effect, which is good for everyone. Durable good down so market would be in the red even without Bhutto.

Bologna. He is a former governor of Massachusetts, has no connections to Pakistan, and he has no authority to speak on this issue at this time. The only reason he is speaking is to exploit the own situation for his own political gain.

Yikes. Sending up prayers of protection for our military in Afghanistan...

I have a really bad feeling.

The analysis is that it was indeed al Qaeda.

They got a major international target.

Indian news interviewing a very emotional (femal) aide to Bhutto. She is hysteric. The Indian reporter is being kind of a jerk and insensitive in his questioning. She screams that the violence is really going to escalate now. Anger against the Army expressed. We are heading toward massive demonstrations in the streets, analysts say. Situation is going to get bad. Much worse. Elections are going to collapse. Vacuum could develop. Condition of the "man in the street is very dire". Blast was done as a diversion. Then team two got into place for the final kill (several shots to neck and head and chest). Total infiltration of her security group. Serious people who knew what they were doing.

He’s applying for the world’s most important job.

By showing us, he might just be good at it.

That’s not such a bad thing...

He is a candidate for the Republican party and has every right to comment on world events. He was asked about it by the press, what did you want him to say? Nothing?

Very minor reaction from the markets today

Dow down 64 so far, which is not far off what was expected to happen today due to durable goods as you pointed out. Unless the Dow starts tanking soon, I agree the effect on the markets will be minor. I think the funeral tomorrow or Saturday, and actions by AQ and Mucharraf in the next couple days could have an effect next week.

MOnday may be an interesting day on Wall Street, but with the weekend and the New Years Tuesday it may be a good thing as the markets willhave time to think instead of just react.

HEADS UP - PRESIDENT TO MAKE A STATEMENT SHORTLY!

I am no Mitt fan, but one thing is for sure, if Huck were asked, his first reaction would be, “What’s Pakistan?”

Perhaps Huck could put a map of Pakistan over the "bookcase" with the cross just barely showing through. So subliminal!

I have to agree. Totally inappropriate for Mitt to hold a press conference at this time. Pure opportunism.

If Musharaf wanted the woman dead she’d have been dead long ago.

I’ll patiently await more on the matter as I’m not convinced this woman was any savior of Pakistan. Upthread I read a story about all the money and property her husband and family evidently stole from her beloved home country.

She’s no heroine in my book but I’ll keep an open mind. By me she was a fool.

I have no problems with it. I am undecided on all these candidates, but he looked good. His stock went up with me this morning.

How about this: “Until we all have more facts, it would not be appropriate for me to stand here and act like I know more about these tragic and unfolding events than I really do.”

The interesting thing to watch now, what will Musharraf DO?

Or NOT do...

Sorry bro, you are flat out wrong on this one. I have no love loss for Willard, and have been a very vocal FRedhead, but I have no problem with him getting out and making a statement. He is running for President, and this is something that as President the candidates need to address in some way. Rudy released a statement, Mitt chose to make a live statement. I would like to see something from Fred, but he may have made a statement from the top of the capitol dome for all we know and the MSM would ignore him. Also, notice that Huckster is very quiet, probably trying to find Pakistan on his rand Mcnally pocket atlas.

Bhutto was a controversial political figure, regardless of her sex.

Bhutto became a target because of her outspoken opposition to AQ and vow to crack down on the tribal lands near the Afghan border to rein in the terrorists. Bhutto was PM when the Taliban took over Afghanistan and she actually worked with them and established good relations.

Indonesia, the world's largest Islamic country, had a woman President, Megawati Sukarnoputri, from 2001-4, and was not a target of assassination. India, the world's second largest Muslim country in terms of population, has also had a woman leader, Indira Gandhi, who was assassinated by her own bodyguards. Her assassination was related to separatists from the Punjab and had nothing to do with religion.

I agree with your assessment. She had to know that she was destined for a short future with her insistence on pretending that she was surrounded by a force field of love or something.
