They’ll come up with a product that is profitable...regardless of their customer’s particular ideology.

Whatever you think of him, Murdoch was clearly a business genius. His whole business career went from strength to strength, and if he made any bad decisions he quickly fixed the damage.

It looks as if James is ambitious to be the next Pinch Sulzberger. I don’t know how good a businessman he is, but it would be almost unheard of for a son to match such a shrewd father. Usually, the second generation of such a founding family is weaker, and the third falls to pieces. Not always, but it’s a common pattern.

So, if Fox News and the NY Post go to the dogs, it will be a real loss, but the upside will be that both of them will probably go to the dogs as a result.

How convenient--just in time for the next Democratic administration, eliminating any conservative voices from TV (apart from an occasional conservative speaker on C-SPAN). Whether the 'Rats can shut down talk radio is uncertain--they have wanted to for years but haven't managed to. There will still be a few conservative newspapers and magazines but none with a large circulation, other than the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal (conservative on some issues).
