"Williams makes only mild criticisms of the Islamic world. He said the Muslim world must acknowledge that its “political solutions were not the most impressive”."

Next, he'll be proclaiming "peace in our time". What a tool.

Williams went beyond his previous critique of the conduct of the war on terror, saying the United States had lost the moral high ground since September 11.

Ah, yes, the leftists' theology of victimhood: the west can only be "moral" while it's being attacked by the lesser cultures of the world.

There is something about western modernity which really does eat away at the soul.”

I do agree with him on this. As for everything else, the lilly-livered Bishop is a poster child for what is wrong with the West.

There are times I wish we could somehow fast forward into the world that would come about if people like the archbishop had their way.

OMG what timing the Archbishop has. The Indians here are protesting today - and situation is bad.

What is it about you ask? Britian's imperial legacy here in SE Asia.

The Indians want to file a petition to the British Commission asking for Queen Elizabeth II to appoint a Queen's counsel to represent the Indian community in a class action suit against the British Government for bringing Indians as indentured labourers to then Malaya and exploiting them.

I was hoping to get the post on how Hillary is perceived in Asia up today - but there is a LOT of stuff going on here today - The Indians in Kuala Lumpur have been protesting here near the British Embassy and the Malay police have shot tear gas into the crowds and using water cannons at them - situation is still a bit volatile at the moment (evening here - they closed a lot of roads from last night in the capital here) and I'm going out again - several people have been arrested and are being charged with sedition.

I'm going to get updates and get them posted on the situation later - but I need to get out there. I might not get stuff up tonight but it will be soon. Gotta Run.

Surprised all this is not on Drudge.

The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Nobel Peace Prize are both relics of the left.

Sounds like the Archbishop of Canterbury has sold his soul to the Muzzies to hope and pray that he will be the last to be beheaded.

I'm waiting for someone like Oliver Cromwell to come in and clense Isle Brittania. Sadly, I also see that in my lifetime, England will turn into (whatever the Fanatics call conquered England).

Rowan, don’t say anything beastly about the Mohammedans, lest you share the fate of Anne Boleyn.

The Archbishop ought to confine his comments to matters with which he is acquainted - elderberry wine, place-seeking, and buggery.

As Mark Steyn said, if the US is an imperialist nation, we are the most benign imperialists in the history of the world.

Think of all that we could do with our military and economic strength. How does gas at .29 cents a gallon sound?

Yet we don’t. We deal fairly and the world reaps the benefit.

For those that think the USA is an imperialistic country I highly suggest the following link. It's been posted here on FR previously but is always good for a reread.

To be Imperial is to possess, or hope to possess, an empire, and these slanders have been made for about a century now. The Cambridge International Dictionary of English defines "empire" as "group of countries ruled by a single person, government or country." Oxford paperback dictionary calls it "a large group of states under single authority." Cambridge goes on to define imperialismï as "system in which a country rules other countries, sometimes having used force to obtain power over them."

ANY rational person can see that the United States does not meet these qualifications by any stretch of the imagination. What nations do we rule? Whose legislative bodies can we overturn with a wave of the hand? Where on this planet do people live under an American flag who do not wish to? And as Jonah Goldberg correctly points out, where are our governors and our tax collectors so that we can siphon off the meager wages of our Imperial Slaves? What kind of empire does not have these imperial mechanisms?

At the end of World War II, America stood astride the world as the unchallenged military and economic power. The terrible might of Germany and Japan lay crushed in smoldering ruin. Great Britain, bled white by the near-total loss of two successive generations of their best and brightest, was in barely better shape. China was a collection of pre-industrial peasants fighting a bitter civil war, and nowhere in the rest of Asia, Africa or South America did there exist anything more than local defense militias.

See if the good bishop could even gain entrance to either Saudi Arabia or Iran even to preach such anti-American vitriol.

This, coming from an idiot who can’t even keep his church together, which is crumbling before everyone’s eyes.

Let me tell you something, Rowan. The next time Britain’s in trouble and needs some help, we’ll just say “Screw you” and see how that works for you.

Maybe you could call the Muslims for help.

Rowan Williams claimed that America’s attempt to intervene overseas by “clearing the decks” with a “quick burst of violent action” had led to “the worst of all worlds”.

It's much better to bleed a country for 200 years, then when you grabbed all you could, split the country apart, put 15 million people out of their homes, and then sit back and watch smugly as they spend the next 50 years slitting each others throats. And now they both have Nukes.

Then we could talk about the the real 'worst of all worlds' -- British Africa.

Rowan Williams is stuck on stupid.

I had used Wikipedia to access a biography of Rowan Williams. For some reason, I also accessed the definition on the same source of Anti-Christ.

Loud whisper from the gallery- "it's 'im, it's im, I tell you".

Maybe.

If I recall, Canterbury did a lot of oppression and persecution on the English people which explains why many fled to America in the 16th to 18th century. Many of them were non-Anglican. People talk about slave reparations and by that thinking, whites should sue Canterbury for what they did to their ancestors. Slave reparations has already been done in the form of Liberia and Sierra Leone because many former slaves wanted to go back to Africa. America is not the worst imperialist when compared to other nations. China and Japan come to mind and they were outright imperialists and did that many times in history.

In all honesty people (especially people in the Anglican church) should do some research on where the church came from and why. Then they will know why anybody who has looked it up does not really care what the Archbishop of Canterbury says.

All I have to say about it is, wow, it is good to be king.

["U.S. imperialism"] had led to “the worst of all worlds”.

No, the worst of all worlds would be allowing nuclear proliferation throughout the Muslim world. ...a state of affairs that would one day assuredly lead to the incineration of everything this naive fool of an archbishop holds dear.

The U.S. is trying to prevent that from happening, so he'd be wise to just shut his piehole and be appreciative. ...privately, if he's shy about it.
