If there are sources that say something other than what is on this page, then those sources are incorrect.
It's a tough subject, because there is so much information. Try to get your kids to understand the basics first, regardless of what their teacher says, or what other sources say.
For years I had to unteach my kids what the schools taught them about history. They’re grown up enough now they can see it for themselves. I’m thankful I didn’t have to endure the global warming propaganda that elementary schools spew these days.
Um....show your kids and any other grade schoolers a picture of the CAUSE of Global Warming.....THE SUN! Heck, take them outside on a sunny day and show them the real thing!

Use every one them, one at a time.
1) Right now, temperatures have risen: 1/2 of ONE degree in 36 years. In the last 9 years, temperatures have actually decreased slightly. 1/2 of ONE degree warmer temperatures are NOT causing serious weather problems ANYWHERE worldwide.
2) Increased CO2 has increased EVERY crop yields for wheat, barley, corn, beans, oats, maize, and peas AND EVERY OTHER natural and farmed plant has increased between 12% and 26% worldwide. Increased CO2 means EVERYBODY is getting more to eat. Longer growing seasons and more cropland mean even more areas can be set aside for nature, and also used for trees, plants, and growing food. More nitrogen's and fertilizers from better energy use will mean even more acres can be used for natural parks and wildlife rather than being cut down for burning as firewoood.
3) Man-caused CO2 has increased the greenhouse effect from 1.0000 in 1890 to 1.0028 right now. This little bit of change is present, but very little compared to the change in what the sun puts out.
4) Temperatures have cycled up and down before: There is NO indication that measured temperatures are rising any faster now than any time before. Temperatures rose in the 1870’s, 1930’, and 1990’s: Temperatures in the past have been much hooter than they are right now.
In the Roman era, in the 1000's, and right after the Ice Ages it was warmer than it is right now.
5) The Arctic is NOT melting: it was hotter before - in the 1930’s and 1950’s, and ALL of the animals survived just fine. Greenland ice packs are thicker now in most areas than they were before, and most areas of the Antarctic are COLDER now than they were earlier in the century. (One area in the Antarctic near the seacoast (about 3% of the total) is warmer than before. The rest is getting thicker ice, which means sea levels are going down - not up.
6) The UN doesn’t know how much sea levels will rise: They think between 3 and 18 inches. MAXIMUM. NO islands are in danger of sinking ANYWHERE in the world. If we decide to evacuate any islands, we have room for the 12,000 refugees from the lowest areas - but we don’t need to do that for another 150 years!

Michael Crichton has a great DVD of research he did for a book exposing all the untruths about global warming. It should be played right after Al Gores movie to get a fair idea of what is really going on.

that’s part of the problem. nobody tries to teach Maxwell’s equations to kids but the complex subject of global warming gets a bump because it fits in with liberal political views.
I assume the fact that the Vikings were farming and lived for 100s of years where the glaciers now roam, is just an inconvenience, solved by plowing the glaciers under with modern machinery. Of course, the ground will need a slight amount of defrosting, but hey, just set really big fires. :^]
Might I recommend — Today, a good investment business is to buy ocean front, or beach front property right about now, fire-sale prices. I understand it will all be useless since what good is submerged property, resale value is not good. So you should be able to get a good deal, save for retirement. Ah to be retired, must be great.
my only concern is the melting of the ice caps. When ice melts, warming is accelerated because ice reflects heat upwards and you end up with a cycle that doesn’t stop until all the ice is melted.

you could perhaps argue that the market price doesn’t reflect the long term because we don’t know what the dollar itself would be worth a decade from now.
The ice caps have never melted before (over the previous 480,000 years) even when temperatures were 2 and 3 degrees WARMER than they are now, and when they were warmer than present for many thousand years.
Right now, temperatures in the Arctic are NOT increasing, and even IF they were increasing at previous rates, it would take over 1000 years to BEGIN melting those icecaps.
Don't waste your time or subject your child to unnecessary ridicule. No matter what evidence you supply your kid with, he/she is in no intellectual position to be able to debate the falacy of global warming with an adult who has their mind set on the great hoax.
Tell your kid to keep his/her ideas to themself and come home and discuss whatever it is that is brought up in class so that you can teach them the real truth.........
My concern is that there are people who actually believe we can halt the natural processes that have been going on for billions of years.
This is impossible by any significant criteria.
Plus, the effort to work against the natural cycles of the planet will bankrupt every economy on the planet foolish enough to try it.
Cities that MIGHT be affected by a improbably severe change in climate need to do the same thing our ancestors did when ice came down from the north and buried their villages... move.
1200 years ago the Vikings grew wine grapes and crops in Greenland. They named it Greenland, because it was green. It has since frozen over. The cause? Global cooling. The earth warms and cools naturally. It warmed in the '30s - read "Grapes of Wrath". It cooled in the '60's. It's warming again. We can hope it warms enough that Greenland turns green again to help feed the poor.
One of the female managers at work, a huge lib, said that the ice caps on Mars were melting because of global warming on Earth.
