My mother-in-law, a trained Christian missionary, leaves bibles at rest stops for those who need hope and salvation.

I checked in to a hotel once where a lady was raising hell with the desk clerk because she found a copy of Bhagavad Gita in addition to the normal Bible. She stormed off when I told her that I would read it if she didn’t want to. The clerk said that she had daily requests by travelers wanting to take a copy with them. Obviously there is curiosity and having a second Holy Book ain’t gonna hurt a thing.

Because we live in a free society that doesn’t force YOUR religion (whatever it may be) down other’s throats.

How many books should a hotel have to allow in their limited drawer space?

Well, duh, I already knew that. I was referring to the fact that if every cult wanted their sacred books placed in hotel drawers there wouldn’t be space for my socks.

Hotels are not required to have any books. However, since the United States is overwhelmingly Judeo-Christian, hotels have long understood that their patrons would not be offended to find a Bible in the desk or nightstand.

True, but what we are talking about is a hotel not wanting them in. If the hotel doesn’t want them, its their business. Some of the comments I’ve gotton seem to be missing the topic at hand.

However, hotels need to also be prepared to accept the consequences that will likely come from their decision.

I would expect that less than .01% of people looking for a hotel room would not book if they knew there wouldn’t be a bible in the desk drawer. If it bothered me, I’d bring my own bible.

You are probably right, and by the same token there is probably an even smaller percentage of people who wouldn't book if they knew there was a bible there, especially when you consider that they are accustomed to them being there.

However, there are A LOT of people who will be very resistant to ever frequenting a hotel chain again if they find condoms and sex games in the room, especially if their young children find them.

If I’m going to be in the room for more than two nights I request that the sheets get changed every day.

I am more offended by the stupid environmentalist messages that are designed to save the hotel money.

No kidding. Those cards really try to lay on a green guilt trip. *We* participate in keeping the earth green, and if *you* are equally enlightened, you will know to keep your towels on the racks. If you choose not to participate, let us know by piling all those towels on the floor like the inconsiderate pig that you are...

Now if the cards said, "for every towel you reuse, we'll deduct x from your hotel bill", then okay. After all, think of all the participation they'd get from that strategy. Oh wait, it's all about the other kind of green...

How long before they sell carbon credits to offset the towel use?

Stay at Wynn Las Vegas, you’ll get a gold lame covered Bible. No, I’m not kidding.

Haha. Ok, I get your point now.

I could be wrong but I don’t think there are many cults out there trying to place their book free of charge in every motel room in the country. I would guess that besides christianity, only islam and the jewish faith are even capable of attempting something like that. And the jews would never attempt it because converting the masses isn’t part of their religion. So now we’re down to only one other possibility. Islam. But they’d rather spend money on bombs than books. But if they did start putting their book in motels free of charge, it wouldn’t bother me in the least.

My former company is selling carbon credits after they sell you a plane ticket. Two profit sources with one deal. WHAT A SCAM. Glad I left that airline.

Exactly! The budgetary cost for a hotel has to include washing the sheets and towels every day in every room they rent. If they can avoid this they make more money.

I use freshly washed towels at home every day, I don't see why I should have to reuse them when I am paying over $100 a night for a hotel room.
