I wonder why the rabid smoker-haters on FR are such weirdos. I’m an oHEILoan too, but fortunately, one 15 minutes from the Michigan border. ;^D
I’m trapped here in Cleveland. Go TRIBE! :-)
Hello. The only animals on my small parcel are deer, rabbits and ground hogs. :-) Like I mentioned before, if there is no other alternative or you want to get out of a situation simply and quickly — move — I did. Hubby and I decided to move after an incident with the city and state governments, which I won’t go into and bore you. And we did that to “take control” so something like that (or anything else) would never happen to us again — we simply weren’t going to allow it. It was the best thing we’ve ever done. We’ve been totally happy here since 1989. I’ve been here at FR since August of 1998.
The neighbor’s landlord. You already said you own your place.
No need to referee unless you want to handle my light work, if it even amounts to that.
You're right, except for the baloney part.
I get really mean when people start trampling on private property rights.
Wow, you really told me.
Most people are happy with all these new laws so just accept it and move on.
Of course they are. You're not exactly coming down off the mountain with the tablets with that fascinating bit of news. Cigar and cigarette smoke annoys a lot of people.
Most of us would also be gleeful if they banned annoying women on cell phones in restaurants. Or banned fat people from wearing shorts and a t-shirt so I wouldn't have to be sickened looking at them while I'm trying to eat. It ruins my appetite.
But we don't have a right to ask every bar, restaurant or apartment building owner to cater to my desires. IT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY! You don't own it PP. You get no vote. You need intense psychotherapy to figure this out.
Dr. Feel is going to have to write you a new stronger prescription...
Isn’t it funny how 20 yrs. ago, no one complained about the smell of cigarettes, now all of sudden it is obnoxious and disgusting......Sublimal perhaps?
Isn’t it funny that people feel the need to comment without reading enough posts to understand the conversation?
And I don’t know where you were 20 years ago, but people certainly did complain about the smell of cigarettes and how the smell of smoke on one’s clothes and furniture was at best, unpleasant.
I don’t recall anyone saying how much they enjoy the odors of smoke saturated clothes, furniture, car upholstery, or in one’s hair and breath.
Mussolini made the trains run on time. Most people were happy with that as well.
I have read the entire thread and still find it amazing the vitriol on this smoking subject. In 1987 I never recall anyone going ballistic over the smell of cigarettes.Perhaps you did, but in my experience it wasn’t as “awful” as it is now.
The disrespect for private property and individual liberty are the foundations for the disrespect of citizenship. Without the right to property, then citizenship is mute.
You celebrate the foundation for the systemic abuse of US citizens. That you don’t see it is very sad.
That’s the plan! Actually, and then they will need a big government take over of the entire health system at taxpayer expense!
“Most people are happy with all these new laws so just accept it and move on.”
Yep, most people are clamoring for “national health care” too. Yep, the public school system has been very successful in convincing people that socialism is good. The US citizenry is to spoiled to care about the little stuff like private property rights, so why would they even begin to care about the big stuff like illegal immigration.
Just because people are clamoring for the government to be their parental units, why should we celebrate their success?
Everyone doesn’t have an option to move.....Some have kids in great schools and don’t want to change that over a few rotten apples. Or the housing market is so bad , that they would take a beating....or they actually like their house and most of what goes on around them.
The person doing wrong should stop or leave. Not people being kind considerate neighbors.
and am I suppose to be impressed that you have been on here that long? Not likely....I know others that have been on here just as long.
My born on date is what it is....I will give you that.
But things are not always what they seem.
People need to stop assuming because a FR new, that they are here to start trouble....or don’t have a valid opinion.
And that because someone has been on here along time.....they don’t start trouble..
Or was that your way of saying welcome, and I misunderstood?
Hello, again. I wasn’t even aware when you signed up at FR. Regardless of when that is — welcome! I’m just passing along some advice to fellow FRs that worked for me.
