Rep. Rob Briley: registered Democrat and a state elected leader in the legislature + “fled the scene of an accident” + “member of the House Ethics Committee and played a central role in shaping ethics legislation that was enacted by the General Assembly last year”.
How can there be anything wrong in that equation; Ted Kennedy has been getting away with worse at the national level for years? Certainly, with their excuses for red-nose Ted, the Democrats have no basis to treat Briley with any less “respect”.

If he was that drunk and driving 100 mph, then reckless endangerment charges should be brought as well. On one hand Wilson County is a bad place to get yourself in a criminal fix. On the other hand he is well connected politically, and the Wilson County “hillbilly mafia” may gain some political chits over seeing that he gets an easy ride.

Leaving the scene of an accident - not to mention the DUI part - is a serious criminal offense in most states. This would get your average schlub a significant jail sentence.

My wife taught in Gallatin for about a year at Vol State's campus there. Nice area.
As good as Tennesse does in choosing people like Fred, unfortunately, when we pick a Dem, we pick a real winner (this guy, Algore, Ford... and on and on and on) Someday, we will really make it into a Republican state.
In the meantime, I am well. Spent the last 2 weeks up to my elbows in sugar. Finally got some rain!!
He and Ophelia Ford should get together. They both have the same problem. They could take their act on the road. On second thought, they’d better not. Too many innocent people out there that could meet an untimely end.

Got some rain today, the first we’ve had all summer practicially (except one day we got about four drops).
Everything is dried up here.
