Anti-Euthanasia for the GOP Platform. I know I’m dreaming but pro-life can be misconstrued. It should be anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia as separate planks. If not, the Constitution is not worth the paper it’s printed on.
Saying “leave it to the courts or leave it to the locals” just doesn’t cut it. Nobody seems to realize how powerful and corrupt Pinellas County, FL is. This is where the big gop donors live and run the country from. Even the county commission is corrupt.

Judges across the country, including Florida, have declared themselves above the law, made ghastly rulings. Something needs to be done about the misuse of the power of the judges. One example, not one but several judges have given less than a slap on the wrist to violent multiple child rapists and let them walk. I need not comment on Judge Greer.

Yes, something does have to be done. We have THREE branches of govt., and they are all equal, but for some reason the judges have more control than the other two branches of govt. put together.
I don’t remember Huckabee saying anything about Terri, one way or another, in the debate, but I remember reading something on one of the Terri threads that was from a newspaper. Huckabee isn’t as bad as RudyMcRomney, imo, but I can remember posting that I was disappointed in Huckabee (for not understanding that it was definitely right for Congress to step in).
Anyway, I will take the liberty of posting my post from the debate thread here:
“So far, I found this from a blog, but couldnt find the newspaper article. According to this, he actually said he wasnt sure.
Huckabee: On governmental intervention in the Terri Schiavo case: I had no problem with the state getting involved because its one of their citizens. but I wasnt sure how the federal government had a role in all that.

To me its very clear: Since Jeb Bush refused to save her life, the Feds should have.

Ditto. It is our government’s DUTY to protect it’s citizens.
“The police arrested a young boy who wanted to give her water.”
I’ll never forget that young boy’s kindness and courage, and I have tears in my eyes now, just thinking about it.
There is a giant flaw in our country, when a young boy gets arrested for giving a dehydrated woman water.
We remember the lady who was in a coma and her husband decided to pull the plug on her. And then she woke up! She wanted some food from the Melting Pot.
I am still wondering how their conversation went after she found her husband had given up and pulled the plug.
TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the story of an Oklahoma City woman who awoke from a two-week coma with a craving for The Melting Pot, the Tampa-based restaurant is honoring her with free fondue for a year. The Melting Pot will fly Jill Finley and her family to Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday, Sept. 20, to receive the gift at its annual meeting.
On May 26, Finley''s husband Ryan woke up to find that his wife was not breathing. He administered CPR until paramedics arrived and rushed her to the hospital, but she slipped into a coma. After two weeks with little improvement, Ryan had to make the difficult decision to turn off the life support machines. A few hours after doing so, Jill awoke saying, "Get me out of here." Then she added another request: "Take me to Ted''s and take me to The Melting Pot." Following her recovery, Jill has shared her story with national news outlets like The Today Show and CNN.
"Jill''s story is such a miracle, the least we could do would be to respond to her request," said Bob Johnston, president of The Melting Pot. "We''re humbled to play a small role in creating another opportunity for Jill and Ryan to cherish time together."

This is what the husband faced, and he listened to the bioethickers.
Hah! No spare organs for them...
All the doctors say Im not textbook material, said Jill, now on medical leave as a mortgage/loan underwriter.
Physicians told Ryan that Jill would never recuperate from her 14-day coma, he said. Jill had not prepared an advanced health care directive mandating a Do-Not-Resuscitate order.
So I made the decision to remove her from life support, he said.
It was the hardest decision hell ever have to make in his life, Ryan said. Jill said she wouldnt have wanted to have lived the rest of her life in a coma after being an energetic, active woman.

"Right now, we're talking to Jackson and they are working very hard with us in order to ensure that Aliza gets the best possible care and is given the best chance of recovery," the family's attorney Menachem Mayberg said. "That is in flux right now and is something we're all working on together in order to ensure that whatever's best for Aliza happens."
Holtz Children's Hospital at JMH issued a statement Monday saying:
"The medical staff at Holtz, along with the Pediatric Bioethics Committee, continues to work with the Schwab family on every aspect of the care being delivered to their child."

There are jewels and then there are diamonds. The conservative movement has its stars and its beauties, but I liked best the comment a Free Republic user made to describe Janet Folger: "She's our new flagship blonde."
~Snip~
Cutting and poignant was the choice of questioners with their questions. Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos was well represented by his wife, Monica, and an entire world was made to wonder why America punishes its civilian border agents for using small arms fire on criminals crossing its undefended border. Bobby Schindler spoke up for his sister Terri Schindler Schiavo, and the defenseless innocent, for a moment, had the loudest of voices. Folger put the three-dimensional ultrasound on international TV so that the entire world could see who it was that would be cut to pieces in an abortion. Here stark and real truths, the ones the entire media and nation avoid with layered complexity (by being busy and important), were the only topic our future leaders could focus on. Several cable channels broadcast the event worldwide.

The Terri Schiavo story is one that is very close to Keyes, who believes that human life is a gift from God that man should not have the legal right to take away when a patient is no longer useful to society and unable to care for himself/herself.

Matt Ortega of the Right's Field blog documented the Value Voters Debate, a Clive Barker-worthy torture session that featured the debut of perennial candidate Alan Keyes and the absence of Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Fred Thompson. Some highlights: Duncan Hunter: “God wants a Republican to be president.”
...
This is the most ridiculous debate format I’ve ever seen. They have “minutes” they can use? What 50s game show did they steal this set from?
...
Oh man, I was just thinking “when are they going to bring out Terry Schiavo’s family” and there’s her brother.
...
Judge Roy Moore just asked about the NAFTA Superhighway that doesn’t exist.
...
An antiabortion activist, a lady who claimed to be nearly aborted, just asked Rudy Giuliani “why do you want to kill me,” only Giuliani isn’t there. So they cut to an EMPTY PODIUM of Giuliani. They’re doing the same thing now with Romney. They just zoom in on the empty podium.I wonder if 1856 Republican candidate John C. Fremont will also get a question.

Among those he lobbied: Tennessee Republican and then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who was at the center of the 2005 nationally watched Terri Schiavo euthanasia case. Thompson said last week in The Villages, a Central Florida retirement community, that he had no position on the Schiavo case and couldn't recall it, though opponents have pointed out the case underpinned a story line for Law & Order, in which he starred.

In one of the greatest public relations scams of modern times, America is being duped by the King of Lies -- doing business as Planned Parenthood.
From the inception of grassroots programs in the 1990s bringing abstinence education to teens, Planned Parenthood has fought to extinguish the abstinence message. In the first years, they were very direct with us. They hated abstinence education. Why? Because sex was a natural right ... even for teenagers. If teens wanted to have sex, they were merely exercising their natural born right to enjoy having sex.
But with escalating birth rates and a new generation of sexually transmitted diseases, parents and public officials were hard-pressed to accept this line of reasoning. Planned Parenthood and its friends needed to find a new tactic. Putting on their creative hats, they added water and stirred, creating ..."medical accuracy."

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new Harris Poll finds that Republicans and young adults are the most likely groups to oppose abortion, embryonic stem cell research and assisted suicide. The survey also showed that a candidate's view on abortion is the most likely to earn a voter's opposition compared with other social issues.
The Harris Poll surveyed 2,694 adults online between August 7 and 13, and asked whether they support or abortion key social issues, including various topics of interest to the pro-life community.

FARGO, September 18, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Samuel J. Aquila, the Catholic bishop of Fargo, North Dakota, is strongly encouraging his priests to imitate him by praying for an hour in front of an abortion facility during this year's national "Forty Days of Life".
The "Forty Days for Life", which is scheduled to take place from September 26th to November 4th of this year, is a program of pro-life activism modeled on the biblically significant number of forty days, found in both the old and new testaments. According to organizers, churches and organizations in 89 US cities and 33 states have agreed to participate by conducting vigils in front of abortion clinics, praying, and "fasting" in various ways (by giving up something valued). For more information, see http://www.40daysforlife.com/about.cfm.
