This is great news.
Netanyahu is just 57 years old. He does have grey hair, and has been around for a long time, but he still a young, dynamic man. And might I add, another one of these guys who is fearless, with a spine of steel, exactly what Israel and the world needs in these times.

Bibi blew it the last time he was in office. Just another big time liar. Not as bad as Vold'Olmert, but pretty much just another politician. He blew it at the Wye River accords. He blew it with Pollard. He went back on his word to the religious Jews who helped put him in office. Mark my words, he'll give land to the Arabs under pressure. Sorry, just can't get too excited about him.
While I tend to agree with you, I have a couple of points to add:
1) Politics is the art of the possible. Right now, he's the only viable candidate to replace Foolmert - viable in the sense of having a chance at long term survival for Israel (barring Divine intervention, that is). While his record is far from ideal, it is far, far less bad than either the current corrupt putz, or the one lording it over the Defense Ministry now.
2) Maybe the guy has learned something from his mistakes? He is, after all, quite intelligent, and I also believe him to be a genuine patriot. He's not the kind of guy who will present the Israeli public with a disaster like last summer - if he fights, it'll be for keeps. Iran is also looming over the entire region, and if Bush doesn't take out their nuke production facilities, I seriously doubt that Foolmert has the cojones. Bibi, for all of his imperfections, is the only practical inhabitant of the PM's office who can stop the slide into utter disaster.

I'd like to believe that is all true, but it sounds like an instant replay of what we were told about him last time. Is he better than Lord Vold'Olmert? In theory, yes. Is their another choice? No.
Just remember when he makes the same mistakes that he made the last time and he:
a. Gives away parts of Judea and Samaria
b. Backs off of incursions under international and US Pressure
c. Lets murderers go under the pretense of "goodwill"
and
d. Negotiates with the Syrians for the Golan
We have the perception that the right is better than the left, but they are the ones who make the deals to give away land (Gaza). Time will tell, but I have been burned before, so I am just a mite skeptical.
