How can you dis if no respect is present in the first place.
Pseudo acquired?
Nope.
The pic of the guyaround the middle with the hat looks like the original movie actor, a bit.
Ironic that you mention “Clockwork Orange”.
I met Malcolm McDowell Saturday at a “Horrorfest” weekend near Baltimore. He looks good and has a nice sense of humor.
Got him to sign a photo from “Star Trek: Generations” and a card with the same photo (with Mary Kay Adams).
Just a little sidebar for you.
‘I thought guns were illegal in the UK.’
That’s a common misconception on this forum. I’m currently writing this from my study (which is in England) and I have a .303 SMLE rifle and two shotguns next to my desk.
“I though guns were banned in England, even the bobbies don’t carry them”
Guns aren’t banned, though laws are very much more restrictive than in the US. And about 10% of the London police force are armed.
i b aware of dat. /s
our poster blam used the word “we”,
and since he’s in the united states of america,
uh duh...

Hi GB,
This is definately a worrying trend. This ridiculous ‘respect’ culture has tragically ended so many lives recently. London especially, as an international city, seems to be having alot of problems.
A big part of the problem nowadays seems to be that youths are coming from broken homes. Many parents seem to leave their offspring to their own devices without ever looking after them. These ‘gangs’ seem to become their families. It seems very similar to US hip-hop gangster problems in some US cities too.
Cheers,
UK
Are our nations really that different? I don’t know what’s worse, the real gangs or the middle class suburban wannabes. My experience with the gangs (about 20 years ago in Detroit) was if you didn't screw with them they wouldn't screw with you. That's probably changed. I'm now stationed in an area that has few gang problems.
In the U.S. we don’t seem to have enough gang bangers so our President and Senate want to import more over our southern border.

IIRC; when I was stationed in the UK about 15 years ago - When registering a firearm you needed “...a signature confirming you were of good character from a doctor, solicitor or other respectable member of society.”
The Airmen would get their form signed by the unit commander.
I completely agree about our country similarities. Our common ties seem to go right down into society itself. I especially concur about ‘middle-class suburban wannabes’. You get lots of white youths in reasonably wealthy areas in the UK that like to think that they are from ‘the hood’ etc, before returning home for afternoon tea :-) The ‘Chav’ phenomenon in the UK has lots of youths dressing in ‘hoodies’ and burberry outfits and wandering aimlessly about in shopping centres trying to look cool. A recent spoof internet video called ‘Chav Hunt’ has made the UK news for causing abit of controversy on the subject. A bunch or well-educated students filmed themselves in full fox-hunting regalia on horse-back riding around shooting ‘Chavs’ (dressed-up mates) in slow motion. Let’s just say that its caused some social class-arguments :-)These types of youths tend to be harmless or claer off when you tell them to ‘b*gger off’. However, there have been a couple of viscious assaults and murders lately which suggest some disturbing individuals amongst them.
I think that the true gangster-ism is a very sad trend that can hopefully be reversed at some point. I’ve personally never experienced such gangs but they seem to be becoming more common in the cities.
she was one of the klingon sisters right?
You get the kids here with the baggy-droopy pants. tattoos, facial jewelry, etc. They try to shock you. I tell them, “if you want to shock me mow my lawn and wash my car.”
;-)
