It’s fantasy, escapism. Yes, there is a serious side which you address, but it’s as far from Harry Potter as it is to “Bewitched” or “I Dream Of Jeanie”.

I was thinking about all the things you mentioned when I finished the last book.
In the course of fighting against evil and for a way of life that was good, many dear people were lost or injured.
I felt the most sorry about Fred because I thought of George and how his life would also die. It was odd, but she never mentioned George again.
But we have to keep in mind that, although there is a sad price for defending our way of life, it is worth it in the end.

Occultism, and occultic power is VERY real. Harry Potter, for the most part, is not the real thing - but it exposes children to the occultic world and can create in them a desire for the real thing.
That question only has validity if one takes the position that the Bible is a work of fiction. I'm fairly certain that PetroniusMaximus DOES NOT take this position, I know I don't.

Interesting about your enjoyment of the audio books. Mr. A is into audio books right now because of an eye problem and he really, really likes them. I hear one going all the time.
I never thought I would like them, but after reading your post, I might try one.
Maybe Amazon will have some used ones on hand by now.
Sometimes you can get those used books for a few cents plus $3 s&H. It’s still a good deal. I got “It Takes a Parent” for my daughter for 46 cents and it’s not that old a book. The copy was great.
I have no interest in discussing something like this with someone who is so closed-minded and who has very interesting interpretations of several Bible passages. You should go to some of the kook websites where you can talk about the evils of Harry Potter with more like-minded folks. I’ve known many people whose kids have read the books and shown absolutely no interest in becoming “true” witches and warlocks. Fiction isn’t real, you see.
