You have got to be joking. Bush has waited until his seventh year in office to deal directly with illegal immigration. Internal enforcement has been worse than it was under Clinton. This bill will be a disaster if passed.

Sadly I agree. I do believe he is hated HERE almost as much, maybe more, than Clinton ever was.

I also believe the venom spewed about him and the GOP is what cost us our majority in Congress. Or at the very least a major contributing factor.

That's the easy part that should have been done years ago.

If it's so easy why haven't they done it yet? It's beyond me. The problem is huge, as you say, and yet we are doing nothing to stop the invasion. Why wouldn't we at least contain it and deal with the ones we have here now?

Start enforcing the laws, hold employers acountable. If we stop the influx, at least we can start getting rid of some, attrition style. It doesn't have to be all at once, contrary to hyperbole. Many illegals would leave on their own with the cessation of (forced) taxpayer handouts.
