CC,

Would you also like to answer the question from an
insider’s perspective - having grown up mormon (in the
belly of the beast, so to speak) - and now have come
to know Christ as a Christian?

best,
ampu

I did not grow up Mormon. I have never been a Mormon. I have close friends who are Mormons. It will be interesting to hear what CC realizes the greatest stumbling step. I’m glad you asked her ...

I agree. Colorcountry has real insight in knowing
from the inside out what the falsehoods are and
also a unique perspective on coming to Christ and
what was new to her - and now looking back on what
changed for her. She’s also been a real trooper
around FR and held up well to being attacked
mercilessly by the “mormon assaulters” who have
called her countless names.

I appreciated your answer to friend.

ncidentally, how would you know if I cursed you when I shook the dust from my boots as a witness to your unbelief, and that is what you refer to since I have used no curse word toward you as you try to falsely assert by incompleteness.

Shaking the dust off is the biblical curse. You are condemning me to a fate worse than Soddom and Gomorrah. LOL I guess since you are so Biblically challenged you might not know that.

Why do you think it is a Muslim insult to show someone the bottom of their shoes?

Do you feel accursed? Are you admitting that you recognize there is God and that you just might be accursed? For someone who didn’t know the difference in Isaac and Jacob, you show a remarkable need to focus our attention upon things Biblical in order to raise an harangue. You're just an agitprop.

How do you reconcile the historical events of the Reformation and Catholic Counter Reformation? Forget for the moment the Mormon claim of restoration. Who, of all the religions that arose out of these events, came closest to maintaining the gospel as taught by Jesus and his Apostles? I’ve asked this before and have not gotten an answer. Once again, I’m not looking for a fight, just a better understanding.

I only address you where it serves my purpose to defend Christianity, faith, and the Creator. :^| I doubt we will ever be on speaking terms. I find disgusting that persons skulk about at FR religion oriented threads seeking ways to cause fighting and discord and even admit that is their purpose, so no, we are not 'back on speaking terms'.

You misunderstand my purpose on these threads. My purpose is to attack the usual gang of Mormon hating bigots of which you are a preeminent member. I attempt to show the shallowness and lack of logic exemplified by the Anti's and yes it is fun : )

I particularly enjoyed skewering the Anti's who were trying to use the example of Noah's Ark to attack the Jaredites boats, as if there were any differences between the fables.

The universe as it manifests on the brane of your sensing would cease to exist as you sense it. I will not debate that!

Would you mind explaining that gibberish, assuming that it is possible of course?

It is the uncertainty which makes possible your state of unbelief.

I am very certain you are wrong : )

sandude,
I’m not interested in mixing the purposes of threads
and getting off topic. Perhaps you can start a thread
about the Reformation. No doubt you will find many
participants.

In the meantime, this thread is about how “troubled”
Mitt is - “deeply troubled” - about attacks on the
cult of mormonism.

Back to the program.

If some witch were to hex you, would you be hexed? Would you still be justified in saying that she hexed you?

You have found me out. I haven't opened a bible in almost 30 years and yet I regularly skewer Pastors who study it daily. Do you believe in Noahs Ark? LOL

Wow, I actually had to look that word up. ag·it·prop ( ) n. Political propaganda, especially favoring communism and disseminated through literature, drama, art, or music. Now you have really hurt my feelings, calling me a communist, that is really low.

It seems this thread moved away from Mitt a long time ago. I’ve only asked questions that have arrose out of reading yours and others remarks. If you don’t want to answer, that’s fine.

"use the example of Noah's Ark to attack the Jaredites boats, as if there were any differences between the fables."

One is in the Bible, the other isn't. That's a big difference.

Does it really matter where the fable is told? If we have been reduced to saying that it is a miracle, who is to say that other miracles didn't happen? Is it beyond Gods power to perform a miracle not listed in the Bible?

I think the greatest heresy of Mormonism, is the turning away from the gift of Grace. The single most important thing about Christianity is Grace. Christ died to free us from the law.

Mormons have re-embraced the idea of ordinances and covenants. They are under covenant and law.....and so they will be judged by the law.

Christians are under the blood of Christ and are seen as perfect through the atonement.

There is SUCH a big difference. The message of the New Testament is simple and pure. We are saved by God’s grace through faith alone and not based of any work, ordinance or covenant we try to add to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The message is in sharp contrast to the teachings of those who want to trust in Christ AND obey ordinances, rites and covenants. Mormons claim that in order to be acceptable to God they need to do adequate works. Law and works are mixed together with grace as a quid-pro-quo with God in earning exaltation.

However the New Testament insists that it is by Grace ALONE. We either accept the gift and become renewed by the acknowledgment of our lowliness before the majesty of the ALMIGHTY God, or we put ourselves as equal in the equation of justification. Mormon’s consider themselves equal with God and able to keep their part of his covenants. The Bible as a whole, points to the impossibility of humans being able to come to the feet of God except by His mercy. Mormons never really know if they have done enough, repented enough, or acheived enough to live for eternity in the presence of God.

I have never met a Mormon who knows for a fact that they will be with Him for eternity. I know plenty who think they will be with their spouse for eternity (they’re wrong of course). It so sad, especially when Salvation is as simple....yet so far from them.

Ultimately God will choose whom He chooses. I believe that, and so it is in His hands. I pray that He will save these poor people from the endless tasks and beehive busy work that encompasses their dead beings, and free them.

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Your post speaks with wonderful clarity of
Christ’s grace and the failure of every system
of works to lead us to God. Thank you.

It is indeed ironic that a religion that claims
to be the restoration of Christianity, should
go back past the Gospel of grace - all the
way back to Judaism, works, a (supposed) temple,
(supposed) priesthood, and even religious garments!

The certainty of salvation and spending eternity
in the presence of God stands out to me as a
stark difference between Christianity and
mormonism.

Thank you for sharing. It must have been an amazing
and liberating experience for you when you apprehended
the wonderful grace of God!

It is encouraging to me to know God is at work, bringing
truth to those in groups like mormonism.

best to you,
ampu

Grace (as taught in the Bible) is absolutely the most transforming thing that can happen in a person’s life. It truly IS a rebirth to be free of guilt and condemnation.

God’s grace allows you to lovingly become a servant to Christ who is your bridegroom, the one you love with all your heart.

When I was Mormon, I focused upon the penalties of my sin, the repentence, the earning of forgiveness. The focus was always on ME and MY failure and not upon HIM and His justice, mercy and love.

Our God is an awesome God!

Is there any difference? A 'miracle' is just a 'fable' that someone happens to believe.

I find it very telling that Religious people require evidence for other beliefs but for their own beliefs they don't require any at all.

"A 'miracle' is just a 'fable' that someone happens to believe."

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle is a 'fable' then, is it?

"... but for their own beliefs they don't require any at all."

Our proof is the Bible. You should see a group of us Wacko Fundamentalist bickering the finer points of Scripture. We can be just as exacting as you guys.

I've seen heated debates over a comma. Should it be there, one word over or altogether absent?

That's a bit like you guys arguing over which String Theory is correct, or if you should just draw a big circle around them all and call it a day.
