My question is, why are we not enforcing the laws that we have on the books already. We do not need more stinking laws, just enforce the ones we already have!

He makes it sound like his proposal is a freebie for taxpayers. In fact, our courts do not need to be further burdened which only costs us all more money.

I have been a bookkeeper for most of my life.
The laws are on the books for employers to have to ascertain the status of prospective employees. They must fill out a form called an I-9 and look at documents provided my the applicant.
The biggest problem with that is that the phony parers and cards are VERY good. Some Soc Sec cards I have seen are better than my own, and I know that is legal!!!
The biggest way- IMO- to help the employers is to establish a serious electronic method of fact checking the social security number and other ID documents that are presented.
When I can buy almost anything on a credit card and get the purchase verified in a matter of less than 10 seconds no matter where I go, there is absolutely NO excuse for the Feds to not be able to provide a service for checking at least that number.
The biggest problem , IMO, is that toooooo many people at sections of the Fed Govn’mt just don’t care about doing a good job. When after years of FOIA filings, we find out last year that 436 persons were using the same Soc Sec number, and the Soc Sec Admin had done NOTHING about it, then there is a big problem.
When I was a Payroll Supervisor—30 YEARS AGO— and I would recieve “Notices of Non-Match” regarding soc sec numbers for the egg ranch Mexicans they had hired, it wook 12-18 months for these notices to come to us. By then, these people had drifted on. They KNEW how long it took for these notices to come out. Perhaps for 30 year ago technology that was ok, but not today.
We can send space craft out into the Galaxy, and cannot verify Identification data in a less than 24 hours manner, then we have a great problem.
The total lack of interest on the part of the Federal Government and it’s employees puts the average employer at a total place of vulnurability for a fiscal punishment.

Our problem is that both parties, our leaders in government, both want the same result, but infight on how and who gets to run the show. Seems simple.
I've been advocating that for a long time. There are a lot of people who care passionately about this issue and they'll spend their own money doing something about it. They just need something effective and legal to do.
But it won't succeed on its own. There must be a clear cut way for employers to tell if a potential employee is legal. A guest worker program is also needed so they have a legitimate way to get the labor they need. Another idea to magnify the effectiveness of the civil suit approach is to let illegals be whisteblowers and reap a share of the judgement. That would drive a deep wedge between illegals and potential employers.
The flow in would stop and many illegals would leave which a fence will not do. We probably wouldn't need to build a physical barrier so there'd be a bunch more money for port security etc.
That's a great idea. One simple thing we can also do is call the Home Depot and Lowe's stores that allow illegals to congregate, and tell them that we won't do business there as long as they allow groups of lawbreakers to assemble in their parking lot.
We need only enforce the laws as they are. Fine the employers, kick the illegals out of our schools, out of the welfare system, out of our hospitals, and take the shackles off of law enforcement and border patrol to do their job. Prosecute the ones how falsify documents and steal SS numbers. Put the ones convicted in in desert jails when caught to serve their time, eating peanut butter sandwiches in open tents behind barbed wire fences. They can have all the tap water they want to drink. If they riot, shoot to kill.
Presto chango! Illegals gone.

When they passed Simpson Mazzoli, which required that employers fill out a form I9 for each employee to verify their US citizenship or legal residency status, employers were warned that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited discrimination based on national origin. The implication was clear. You must fill out a form I9, but you may not express a suspicion that the employee is illegal because of their national origin, or that the employee has shown false documentation.
I acknowledge that there are unscrupulous employers, but there far more scrupulous employers, who are already over burdened with taxes and paperwork. What we don’t need is more burdens on businesses.
What we need to do is make it much harder to come here illegally, but much easier to come here legally. We do need, and always have needed, a steady stream of immigrants, immigrants who want to come here to become Americans, and to earn their keep.
We also need to diminish the welfare state, and make illegal aliens ineligible for any government servicers, except for the trip back across whatever border they crossed to get here. We also need stronger border enforcement so that we don’t have our own version of a Gothic army rampaging through our heartland, destroying our civilization.
A few days ago, I talked to a woman who emigrated here in the early 1980s from Romania. That madman Ceaucescu had not yet met his fate, and was still in charge. She does not understand why Americans whine about their lives. We are a beacon to the world, and everyone wants to come here. These people can become our strongest defenders, and we should permit far more of them to come here, and to earn the right to call themselves Americans. However, if that is not what they have in mind, back they should go.
Employing more than five illegals would be prima-facie evidence of intent to break the law, just as writing a check with insufficient funds is evidence of intent to defraud.
I would also extend this law to landlords. Rent to more than 5 illegals, go to jail.
Why more than 5? To provide a margin of error against honest mistakes. I can believe that someone might unknowingly employ or rent to one or two illegals. I have a very hard time that one could employ or harbor 6 or more without knowing.
Stripped of employment and lodging most of the illegals would just go home on their own, saving us the costs of deportation.
No, the solution to the illegal immigration problem is to shut down the welfare state. Employers are hiring illegals because that’s the only free market for labor. It’s the only way employers can pay workers what they’re worth to the employer, for as long as the employer needs and wants them, and no more.
