Does that include a man teaching that you are doing someone a redemptive favor by murdering them, and that our blood needs to be shed because the blood of Christ was not sufficient for us?
Suppose you found your brother in bed with your wife, and put a javelin through both of them, you would be justified, and they would atone for their sins, and be received into the kingdom of God. I would at once do so in such a case; and under such circumstances, I have no wife whom I love so well that I would not put a javelin through her heart, and I would do it with clean hands.......There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenants made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out, your own blood must atone for it; and the judgments of the Almighty will come, sooner or later, and every man and woman will have to atone for breaking their covenants.

Doesn't sound very 'nice' to me. Doesn't sound very Christian, either.
Cordially,
Everything the bible says.
So you are a Mormon? They believe in the bible. Where do your beliefs disagree with the Mormons?
Mormon doctrines include a lot of extra- and anti-biblical beliefs.
Most Religions do. Doesn't yours? What God do you believe in?
You are indicative of a new and ugly trend in FR. Anyone who doesn’t follow the current party line is immediately attacked. If you look back at the original post of mine, the one that got you so hyped up, you’ll see that all I did was make a simple statement about keeping an open mind. You are one of a growing number of posters on this board who do not countenance even the slightest hint of disagreement with the prevailing CW of this site, a CW that is conveniently defined by the self-appointed keepers-of-the-faith, like yourself.
I am neither a defender nor attacker of Mormonism per se. I care only for the survival of individual liberty and free market enterprise in America. Anything that promises to help that survival, I am interested in. That does NOT mean I’m automatically on anyone’s side. I’m just looking at options to Hillary/Obama/Edwards and, at this early stage in the campaign, keeping an open mind.
You, on the other hand, are a pissant looking for a fight with anyone who doesn’t exactly follow your particular orthodoxy, an orthodoxy I have absolutely zero intersest in, and an orthodoxy, most likely, even your own family is pretty much bored by.
You're right; most "religions" do. Mine does not.
What God do you believe in?
I believe in the God of the Bible.
“Although the origins of the Mormon religion are cultish, I think the status of the group today is mainstream. Im going to judge Romney by what I think of Romney, not what I think of Mormonism.”
Samtheman, Obviously you stated more than just “keeping an open mind.” To those of us who are christians, know our Bible and understand the fundamental doctrines, Mormans are mo more “mainstream” than Muslums. Both of these man-made faiths have NOTHING in common with Christianity. I believe that was my point when I responded.
I have no clue as to what a CW is from your rant but as a christian, I believe I can discern the difference between Mormon beliefs and Christianity. I have more respect for Scientology that does not mix some christian beliefs with New Age dribble than I do for Mormanism.
Again, I want a conservative elected. I have stated on FR a few times, that if a conservative atheist ran for President, I would vote for him. My problem with Romney is he has rarely governed like a conservative and he claims to be a member of a christian faith when to the theologically literate, it is clearly NOT.
PS: You spelled interest “intersest”. (I’m usually not picky but since you presumed to know what my family thinks about “my orthodoxy,” well - you know. (FYI, i’m a mom)
I respect your religion but I respectfully submit to you that FR is not primarily a site devoted to defending the Christian religion (or any of its sects) but, rather, as the front page says:
Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.Although many Christians are also conservatives, and many conservatives are also Christian, there is a difference. Therefore, when I said Mormons are "mainstream", I was referring to their politics, not their religion.
I have worked with many Mormons and I have lived in a part of the country where there are large Mormon communities. They seemed to me to be a singularly level-headed, hard-working and friendly bunch, despite the rather weird aspects of the texts they read.
For you to compare them to Muslims, who teach their children that murder is fine, who teach their children that women are chattel, who teach their children that the only good Christian and Jew is a dead Christian and Jew, for you to make that comparison, is so erroneous that any error I might make in judging Mormons as mainstream is infinitesimal in comparison.
To sum up, there's a difference between a spelling mistake and a typo (I pressed Post before I noticed the extra s in "intersest") and there's a difference between a group who has added a few addendums to the bible and a group who flies airplanes into buildings and for you to be unable to discern that difference, for you to mention those two groups in the same breath (one group loyal Americans, the other group hateful enemies), well, you really, really should be ashamed of yourself.
You're right; most "religions" do. Mine does not.
Then why pick on the Mormons?
What God do you believe in?
I believe in the God of the Bible.
Wow that really narrows it down. But you have provided clues ^_^ Since you don't believe anything outside of the Bible, you aren't a Catholic or belong to any religion that believes the Nicene Creed. You aren't a 'Christian' because you don't believe in the trinity (thats what everyone keeps saying anyway). Ah, you are a Jew, see that wasn't so hard to figure out ^_^ Why not proudly declare your Jewish heritage instead of trying to damn the Mormons? Are you ashamed of what you are?
You’re proving to be a jackass.
No they don't. God's name is I am, which means He has always existed. Mormons believe that God became God after being a man. They believe this happened on some other planet.
Admitting defeat so soon? You don't like being ridiculed do you. Maybe you will think about that the next time you decide to attack someone else's beliefs. Especially when you aren't willing to defend your own.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Marxism and Islam are the two most evil religions. They are tied for first place.
It seems to me that Satan is distracting Christians with the side issue of Mormonism, while working to **really** destroy our nation with the religions of Marxism and Islam.
No they don't. God's name is I am, which means He has always existed. Mormons believe that God became God after being a man. They believe this happened on some other planet.
So you believe that Christ wasn't born? That he wasn't the only begotten of God? And then you claim that the Mormons believe that God became God after being born. Do you know what logical thinking is?
I am still waiting for you to proudly proclaim your wonderful beliefs ^_^
Don't flatter yourself. That wasn't ridicule; it was just nonsense from a puffed-up atheist know-it-all.
Maybe you will think about that the next time you decide to attack someone else's beliefs.
"Attack"? Show me where I attacked anyone's beliefs. All I did was answer your question of how theirs disagree with mine.
Especially when you aren't willing to defend your own.
I am willing to defend the Truth. I must also obey the Lord's commands in Matthew 7:6 ("Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine").
I am not discussing Mormonism in the context of destruction to our Nation but rather the perversion of Christianity. Satan is cheering all false or man-created religions - it does not matter to Satan what religion keeps people from God’s truth.
Obviously, Islam wants to destroy the body but both Mormonism and Islam destroy the soul.

I believe that you are lost.
You started off by declaring that Mormons have anti-biblical beliefs. "Mormon doctrines include a lot of extra- and anti-biblical beliefs. That is like telling a Jew that his beliefs are anti-Torah. If you told a Muslim in Iran that his beliefs were anti-Koran what do think he would consider that comment to be?
I am willing to defend the Truth. I must also obey the Lord's commands in Matthew 7:6 ("Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine").
Lets see, you have called me a jackass, dog and a swine (and probably felt sorry for defaming them). Is there anything left? You are also logically inconsistent because it is impossible to defend the truth if you don't proclaim it.
That's OK. If you are so ashamed of your beliefs that you are afraid to proclaim them, I understand. I would be ashamed of believing in fairy tales too.
