In the years leading up to 9/11, Pat Buchanan frequently warned of terrorism coming to U.S. soil if we didn’t get out of the Middle East. But acknowledging that as a motivating factor of terrorism is not the same as saying we deserved it, which is what you hear from the left. Ron Paul could have at least made that distinction, but instead it sounded like he thought we deserved what we got.

Nut Gaul’s supporters are already all over the polls.

With the other candidates splitting the "we didn't deserve to get slaughtered" vote, I guess the poll results make sense.

Because liberals, the moveon crowd, sorosites, kos kids are all voting for him. They love this loser who would surrender to Al Qaeda. He wants us to lose in Iraq just like the dummies do. Online polls are worthless and Paul will not muster more than 5% in the repub race. Most are not dumb enough to vote for this LIBERTARIAN that would start to bring our troops home, the day he was sworn in.

There's a difference between "fault" and a reason why. The Japanese attacked us because of US policy as well, but that doesn't mean it was warranted.

If Pearl Harbor happened in 2007, Rudy "Benito" Giuliani would have said it's because the Japanese Emperor hates jazz music and the jitterbug.

I don’t have time to read your tome of a post. What I will say is Ron Paul was made to look like a left wing nut job and Rudy cut Ron Paul up like a paper doll.

Interventionism is a left-wing, Wilsonian concept. Period.

As Ron Paul has been saying in the debates, historically conservatives have abhorred intervention abroad; it's always been progressives that have argued "government is a force for good", not conservatives. Even Bush himself promised non-intervention.

Thank God someone has the guts to say what should be obvious, that we are not being attacked because of our “freedom and women’s rights.” That is absurd. Do amy of you all actually believe we are being attacked because they hate our freedom? Why aren’t they attacking Monaco and Costa Rica and Switzerland, too?
Ron Paul gets my support. That’s for sure. I could never support someone who believes we are hated because we are free. It’s an obvious lie, and a huge one at that — which I guess is what makes it such as easy sell for the 50% plus one of the electorate. Morons.

The mayor knows the Islamic radicals hate us for our freedoms. Although Rudy is by no means my favorite, your boy Ron Paul looked like a befuddled old man with slow response times. I kept waiting for the medical staff to break through the curtain with an oxygen machine for him.

Thank You.

If al-Qaida was nothing more than a bunch of "freedom-killers", they would have dirty-bombed the crap our of Amsterdam by now.

9/11, 9/11, 9/11.

There, I won the argument and you lost.

Seriously, though, Bush has created an accepted reality and he’s made it so that dissenting from that reality means you support Al Qaeda. You can’t disagree with any Bush national security policy or any statement they make about terrorism. Bush says that our intervention does the opposite of what Ron Paul says, that it makes us safer, and that only terrorists think that the US needs to stop intervening in other countries and their affairs. It’s just how things are.

I give him credit, though, for not apologizing like Rudy asked. That took balls.
