Post #418 is for you, FC.

Pull out your Pearl of Great Price...Joseph Smith - History, and go down to verse 19:
"I was answered that I must join none of them [churches], for they were all awrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt."
This is LDS "scripture" of the First Vision. This is the foundational basis of the LDS faith.
Are you telling me that Mitt denies this? He doesn't believe this account of the First Vision?
Smith, Young, Taylor and Mormonism has been hostile toward Christianity from the start. It's PR campaign started decades ago to improve Mormonism's public image has tried to run away from that, while still maintaining that all Christian churches are apostate and lost, or else they would not be out to convert Christians to Mormonism so they could be "restored" to the "true church". Once again, Mormonism talks out of both sides of it's mouth.
They are in My opinion. All Christian Churches who firmly are founded in, and teach Biblical truths are equally Christian. Mormonism teaches that the Bible is corrupt. Mormonism teaches that we Christian Churches fight, and divide from one another, and so there is no "true" Church among them. And while it might be true that some Christians disagree, the Church (Christ's Church - all CHRISTIAN followers) does not.
When I became Christian, I was delighted at the great unity among Christian Churches. Maybe you should attend some and find out.
Well, many Mormons have bought the PR campaign that tries to present Mormonism as "another Christian denomination", when in reality, Mormonism had been hostile toward Christianity and did not want to be associated with any Christian churches.
The PR campaign has been about trying to make Mormonism seem to be something it is not.
I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and I feel bad that Im such a screw-up that He had to pay the price for me. I love Heavenly Father for instituting such a wonderful plan. And the Holy Ghost tells me its true.
Please clearly explain what that PLAN was that Christ died to institute. In my understanding of Mormonism, you may gain equality with God, if you do "all you can do," take part in all your ordinances and covenants, and obey the LAW of the Gospel (Mormonism). Christ died so that you may be able to work hard and earn your salvation.
That is hardly what Christians teach. You make it sound like you believe that Christ died to save you or something. When perhaps you believe that Christ died so you can have a chance to live the PLAN.
I have prayed my head off with people of other faiths - holding hands yet. For Gods sake!!
Praying to a false god with people of other faith's means nothing, even if you are holding hands. All that is, is another Kum Ba Ya moment, that might give some a warm fuzzy feeling, but God does not listen to the prayers offered up to a false god.
Coyote, I remember "talks" in mormon sacrament meeting when I was a youngster. One in particular stuck with me. It related how "A young couple traveled many miles to the SLC temple to be married, and as they tried to enter, they were turned away. The gatekeeper stated, 'I had a burning in my bosom that they were unworthy and not to be allowed in.' Then, it was discovered that the man had a Negro great, great grandfather. The Spirit can detect one ounce of Negro blood."
This is the attitude that members in the 50's-60's grew up with.
It appears from your article you have never met an evangelical Southerner . You seem to agree with the liberals that we are all racist, biggoted, homophobes, as well as hypocrits in the observance of our religion.
All I can tell you is “Bless Your Heart”.
“So tell me again: between evangelicals and Mormons generally, who judges superficially and hypocritically and who judges righteous judgment?”
Well, since Mormon bedrock principle is that all other Christians and Jews are an apostate abomination headed for hell, I think we know the answer to that one.
I just will not vote for anyone who thinks they are God, or thinks they are on the path to becoming God (like Bishop Mitt). You are asking me to vote in favor of literally a false God - think about that for a minute.
I lived in Texas for a while, so I can repeat your “bless your heart”.
I believe Heavenly Father hears my prayers and we always pray In the Name of Jesus Christ.
"In the name of Jesus Christ" is not a magic formula, and the Mormon heavenly father is but deceiving spirit, an exalted man who became a god, and is not the God of the Bible and historic Christian faith, but is a false god.
Evangelicals and liberals agree do on one thing: they despise Mormons. Lying on that common bed of bigotry they are kissing and cuddling like long lost lovers.
Bigotry, the new postmodernist, liberal buzzword to label those who believe in Truth with.
It's nothing but another attempt to suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
“The fact remains that despite the gratuitous smears,”
Hey! Wait a minute! My smears aren’t gratitous! I charge a buck a smear!
Hi, it IS very nice to see you once again on a Mormon thread. Don't you frequent most of them?
Part of the second shift..first shift here earlier.
LOL, Feel free sir.
It’s ma’m, but thanks ;)
Boy, ya gotta love those smears and hyperbolic misrepresentations with hyper-emotional buzzwords like "despise Mormons" that are used to paint Christians who defend the faith against a false religion, by openly challenging the fantastic claims of Mormonism for truth.
