Mike Bloomberg is doing his best to make New York City uninhabitable. If he keeps it up, there won’t be anything much left for the next terrorist attackers to hit.

>> But some medical ethicists defend the law, suggesting that family members do not have the medical expertise and are often too emotional to make a decision in the best interest of the patient.

The same medical ethicists, on behalf of Michael Schiavo, argued in thundering terms for the FAMILY to make the PRIVATE decisions for Terri Schiavo -- Congress stay out!!

So they take opposite positions on who should make the decision. What is consistent in the two positions? DEATH FOR THE PATIENT.

>> "Two of the 11 tapes remain sealed by the court, but it is not known why."

The point of sealing records is to conceal wrongdoing from the public.

The liberals say it's to protect their privacy, which is the same thing. Privacy is the all-purpose screen behind which they plunder the treasury, do abortions, take water and food away from disabled patients, and otherwise behave like leftist rats.

Re: Post 151, thanks 8mmMauser, GREAT find. Your link about Duncan Hunter covers everything from the life issues to China.

I also particularly liked:

After the 1st debate on DUNCAN HUNTER: http://www.americandaily.com/article/18685

“When Romney wavered about federal funding for stem cell research - Hunter was certain about his opinion and wanted to share it with Mrs. Reagan.”

Perhaps Mrs. Reagan will investigate and see the countless of treatments from ADULT stem cells, after hearing Hunter.

I agree that all he needs are the financial resources, and nothing is too small. The woman who ran against Murtha said she received one million hits on her website, and if only each person that visited her website gave at least $1..........

Roland S. Martin's Laugh-in, or at...

It is difficult for me to follow this representative of CNN without concluding the author is a befuddl-er or a befuddl-ee. For, he talks of taking of an innocent life as comparable to taking the life of a killer.

..............................

Aside from Rudy Giuliani's torturous explanation of his views on abortion, it was easy to discern after Thursday's debate that the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination are staunch advocates of life, namely when it comes to abortion.

In fact, they were passionate on the issue, and some made it clear that nothing is more important than life itself.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: "Well, I've always been personally pro-life."

When asked about the Terri Schiavo case, he replied: "I think the Congress's job is to make sure that laws are respecting the sanctity of life."

California Rep. Duncan Hunter evoked the memory of a late president to explain his position: "Ronald Reagan said, on the question of life, 'When there's a question, err on the side of life.' "

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback was the most eloquent on the subject: "I believe life is one of the central issues of our day, and I believe that every human life at every phase is unique, is beautiful, is a child of a loving God, period."

He later added: "Her life is sacred. Even if it's in that difficult moment that she's in at that point in time, that life is sacred, and we should stand for life in all its circumstances."

On stem cell research, Brownback said, "It is not necessary to kill a human life for us to heal people."

That last line caught my attention because that is often something we hear from victims rights groups, law enforcement and prosecutors when someone is put to death for committing a crime.

But if you take the candidates at face value, then why hold the same view when it comes to the death penalty?

GOP is pro-life in the womb, not necessarily after

John Hinderaker http://powerlineblog.com, is quoted today in the News-Leader...

Most of the mainstream coverage of last night's debate that I have seen is poor, largely because it unduly emphasizes the role played by the abortion issue. The Associated Press's account is typical. It is titled, "GOP Debate Focuses on Iraq War, Abortion," and the first seven paragraphs refer only to the participants' stances on abortion.

I think this emphasis is ludicrously out of step with the actual concerns of Republican primary voters, but very much in tune with the stereotype of Republicans that the MSM seek to convey. (It was no accident that one of Chris Matthews' questions was about Terri Schiavo!)

There are of course Republican voters who are deeply concerned about the social issues. But in my judgment, national security is far and away the biggest issue for Republican primary voters as a whole, with taxes and spending second and the social issues, of which abortion is one, third. Press coverage suggesting that last night's event focused largely on abortion give a grossly distorted view of that event and of the Republican candidates, but that is the impression that the large majority of Americans who didn't see the debate, but did see newspaper headlines, are likely to come away with.

Mainstream media misses the boat

Another concept this morning is hard for me to grasp. How does a hospice appeal to people in need when Terri is used as an example. She was there not at all because she was near death, but because her husband and the courts sought her death.

During the week, Elliott is one of 30 nurses making sure their hospice patients like McQuiston are as pain-free as possible and are getting the care they need in what may be the last days and months of their lives. As a hospice nurse for Millington and Tipton County, she sees patients whose hearts can't be fixed, cancers that can't be cured or whose bodies are wearing out.

Hospice officials believe using such care is becoming more accepted within the community. "It's largely because of the higher-profile cases like Terri Schiavo," said Dee Flood, development coordinator for Methodist Hospice, Elliott's employer.

Hospice provides care to those in their last days, months

Ping to a thread by don-o. Thanks, narses.

Model, singer and actor Eduardo Verastegui, “heartthrob” of countless women in Mexico and Latin America for his romantic leads in Spanish-language soap operas ("Herida de Amor," "Salomé", "Tres Mujeres") and movies (“My Gardener,” “Chasing Papi”), has become one of the most eloquent voices against abortion in Mexico and the U.S.

The singer/model/actor, once caught up in the hot “vida loca” of self-indulgence, glamour, and money, says he has no fear of public rejection for denouncing “the holocaust of abortion.” Verastegui has explained his pro-life convictions to various Mexican media outlets and has created an organization in California to help those in need, especially women who are experiencing untimely or difficult pregnancies.

In an interview with the magazine Hola, he said he was “very frustrated over what is happening in Mexico today. I think there is tremendous manipulation of the news that the Mexican people are being given. The law is based on lies, because abortion is a crime."

“Something completely unnatural” Latino actor speaks out against “the holocaust of abortion”

Ping to a thread by Coleus which echoes a theme amongst some Catholic bishops befuddl-ers that sounds like the Democrat talking points I posted earlier today, #166.

It is not a rare thing for Catholic prelates to assert definitively that the Church opposes capital punishment. Some even liken the death of a defenseless aborted baby to that of a criminal duly judged by a competent court and condemned for a grave violation of the moral or judicial order. Such prelates conclude that Catholics are obliged to reject not only abortion but also the death penalty as well.

Is the Church Against Abortion and the Death Penalty?

You’re right. He does not know the difference between innocent babies and a criminal on death row. But then, he’s pro-choice and anti-abortion at the same time too. What use is that? “You ladies, you just go bump off your babies if you choose to. I’ll sit here and make faces.”

>> Hospice provides assistance for patients who have life-threatening illnesses and whose doctors believe that their patients have less than six months to live. "It moves from curing to caring," Flood explained.

Let us explain that hospice care is significantly less than nursing home care, that Terri did NOT have a life-threatening condition, and that she was illegally placed in hospice for five YEARS. They wouldn't even open her window shades or take her out in the sunlight -- on Michael's orders. In other words, despite the claims of Michael's supporters, she did not get good care for those last years. She was warehoused with minimal care by while her cheating spouse was out making babies with another woman.

Wagglebee thread. Thanks, wagglebee and narses. I grabbed this excerpt from the center...

The real problem with the debate about abortion is that those who have a vested interest in having abortion continue unhindered (for whatever reason), have been allowed to frame the nature of life before the moment of birth. The natural inclination of the human mind, or that innate sense of God’s law that is written in the hearts of all, would be to assume that if a living human baby comes out of its mother’s body, it was likely a living human baby for its entire existence.

Unfortunately, pro-abortion advocates have been successful in casting doubt on what it is that is inside a woman's womb. The absurdity of this condition is that people are now confused, and have been led to doubt that innate knowledge of good and evil. Many have some mystical notion, that a prenatal child is something akin to Jack’s magic beans; that at some unknown moment in time, poof… a blob of tissue becomes a human being.

Here we can clearly see the great lie that springs from those who have chosen evil over good. The content of a woman’s uterus has never been a magic bean. It has never been a puppy, a kitten, not even a gerbil. At conception, when the genetic materials from two human beings combine, a third human life is ignited.

The Vast Left-Wing Culture of Death

I almost posted a photo of Eduardo’s one-time co-star, Jennifer Lopez, with similar advice to males of the species. But I could hardly find a modest photo, and it would be most inappropriate anyway, if she were to turn out to be pro-choice. Hollywood has more than its share of fluffy little liberals.

To my mind, the fact that Senator Brownback and Rep. Hunter attended and spoke at the pro-life march in D.C. shows that they are not only pro-life, but have the most passion for the pro-life cause.

And they also both supported fighting for Terri’s life at the debate.

I was listening to Jay Seculo’s radio show today, and he feels that because of the SCOTUS upholding the partial-birth abortion ban, that abortions will plummet, because tied in with that, will be a requirement that pregnant woman will see an ultrasound of their unborn baby. I think he said this will be a state by state decision.
