we’ve been married for almost 3o years and have never been able to buy a brand new car....last summer we got a 2002 and were estatic about it, it was the first family auto we bought in 16 years! We were fortunate enough to be able to pay outright for it so we have no payments.

Well, my old Honda was the first new car I had ever had. My daughter who died in 2004 totaled it so we got the new one. Since my husband’s death, I have enough money to do some things that I could not have done otherwise. It is like I told the saleslady, I would rather have him! He had been leasing new Yukons for years. The last one is the one that daughter is driving until the lease is up in August or September. I have already told my daughter and 2 grandkids that I am going to spend this money on us and they may not get anything when I die. They will have some wonderful memories, though. Just like the train trip we are taking in July. I usually do not spend a lot of money. I do not pay outrageous amounts for clothes, etc. I am not one to do that. I had rather be doing my genealogy stuff—have over 18,000 names in my FTM. I can spend hours doing that. After my husband, brother, bil, mother and an aunt died, that is what is keeping me sane. I am like one of those kid’s punching bags that pop back up after being knocked down.

yup, after my dad died, I told my mom to spend her money...have fun with it. It was their money not ours and she should do what she wanted with it!

Hi Kristin. Some pastors with a healing ministry will be ministering at my church this weekend. I’ll be able to go at least on Saturday evening, not sure if I’ll have transportation on Sunday AM yet, but if I can get there on Saturday I’ll be very happy.
Today I got three surprises in the mail - I love days like that. One was a teaching tape a friend sent me, one was a gift (kitchen product), and another was a fancy wine bottle cork remover I ordered. It came in a really nice, heavy cedar box and needs assembly. Imagine my shock when I opened the box, ordered from an American company, and found the instructions in a foreign language! I went to my favorite free translation web page
http://www.freetranslation.com/web.htm
and after a few tries, discovered it was written in (of all things) Portuguese! So I got a “gist of” translation (by this time I was laughing over the whole thing) and will assemble it with a friend’s help. I am also going to send the company that sold it to me a copy of the rough translation and tell them I am sure their other American customers are more likely to read English than Portuguese and since I created a rough translation of the insert on the web, I am sure their other English-speaking customers would like a dusted-off version of it. And then I’m going to append it to the note.
Anyway, that’s a long way ‘round to say I’m doing okey dokey. How are you?

May I compliment you on your taste and sense of style---not to mention your intellect on buying a HONDA. I have owned 6 and absolutely LOVEd them all. I presently have a 99 CRV and cannot say enough great things about it. It has 103K miles and going strong. Drives like a dream and gets GREAT gas mileage. Hondas are so well made and REALLY hold their resale value, should the occasion ever arise for a trade in for a newer model in the future.
You are so smart and I'm SOOOOO happy for you!!!!! Enjoy! You deserve the very best ;-)
Your FRiend,

Thank you s_j, for another stellar job with the Dose!
I'm in and out...lurking, as we have dinner guests. It's FABULOUS weather here in America's Finest City!!! (Especially inland ;-) We bought some amended soil and I have been shoveling it out of hubby's truck and putting it all along the border of our house and in the planters and the back yard.....oh, it's been fun!!! I told myself that this must be what the President feels like when he's clearing brush with his chain saw at the Ranch! Arrrrrh! Playing in the Dirt ;-) BIG smile! Gotta go! Bye for now,
NordP

I love my Honda too! It’s a 94 Civic hatchback approaching 200,000 miles. It’s got a few tiny rust spots from the lovely salt on WI roads, but otherwise in great shape and incredibly reliable. I’m hoping for 300,000 miles!

I love the photo of the motorcade in the fog!
Is this the same Japanese PM who had such a good time with POTUS at Graceland? I think it must be.
