Flew in the Whale......never cared much for the other nick....probably 'cause it had a ring of truth to it.

The A-1 Sky Raider had another nickname.....Sandy. I haven't a clue how that came about.

When I was stationed at Cannon AFB they had a female O6 as Base Commander. I can’t remember her last name but her first name was Mary. She got into a twist over aircrew wearing white socks and would have them hoist up the pants leg of their flight suits to check if the color was right. Her nickname, “Mary, Queen of Socks.”

My Great Grandma was called Ma.
She was a 3/4 Cherokee Indian and mean as I don’t know what!
Not that Cherokee Indians are mean. But she sure was. ;-)

I just always had a part of me that rebelled at that name. ;-)
