But our country is nothing like California
FWIW, overall, It's more like California than it is like FR - simple reality.
More donations to FR come from California than any other state. I reluctantly acknolwedge that our country is more like California than not (coast dominated by densly populated and highly Democrat/liberal voting blocks, the rest of the area predominantly Republican/conservative), and take HUGE COMFORT in the revelation of FR's majority of donations coming from California. Maybe the nation is more conservative that we suspect.

Since then, it's been the "real, true" conservatives turning their backs on the Republican Party whenever they don't get their way. If the GOP would stick to a strong conservative-libertarian philosophy, all of the problems we have now would be eradicated, Howlin. Don't you get tired of Republicans acting like Democrats? Or is it OK with you because you don't want to miss out on the $1,000-a-plate fundraisers and handing out GOP campaign literature.

Rudys support among FReepers is incredibly low and I have a feeling that many of them are FReepers who have departed for WideAwake but havent been banned.I wish them luck with that. Secret discussions are no way to promote a candidate.

You’re not going to force me to defend Rudy when I have repeatedly said that I’m not in his camp.
I could answer your post if I was his lawyer, or if I were advocating for him at this forum. I’m neither.
I want him and his supporters to be treated fairly on this forum. I’m less worried about him than I am his supporters.
Who exactly is the official announced candidate that all FR members must support at the risk of being zapped? I missed the memo, and I thought I was on the distribution list.
To: Chuck Dent
Your correct in saying that the Pubbie party is acting like a centrist one. That is exactly the problem. They have abondoned the tenets outlined in the party platform.

How can you “not accept my characterization” of him as a liberal? The ONLY area in which he is in agreement with conservatives is the war on terror and national security is not really a conservative or liberal issue (it sometimes seems like it is because conservatives generally support the WOT and liberals generally don’t; but it has been made into a political issue, historically national security has been apolitical).
Would you label Joe Lieberman a conservative? What about Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, are they conservatives? (The fact is that both Daschle and Gephardt are MORE CONSERVATIVE than Rudy.)

YOU called him a social moderate. In order to be a “moderate” Republican there have to be people to the left of him IN the party.
Nobody ever seems to be able to name any. Therefore he is LIBERAL.

It's not my decision to make, but I don't mind them because they expose themselves.
There should be a rule against telling total lies though, except I don't think some of them know the difference.
They really have drank the koolaid, or just jumped on the bandwagon because of the others lies.
To: KATIE-O
Conservatives are exposing socialists who pretend to be Conservatives.
You won't have to ban me, because I am banning YOU!!!!! Then this will be your last post?
It's a HATE ZONE, and one of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of donating my hard earned dollars to.
Your right! We hate socialists! Spoken like a true socialist.
I was taught that to love Jesus is to love one another and to be tolerant of each other and to try to understand another's view point without being judgmental.
Tell that to abortion loving Giuliani.
This is still America and we are still free to THINK and to vote for the candidate of our choice without being called Liberals, Socialists, Abortionist Pigs, Asswipes, and other demeaning names.
And conservatives are free to expose socialists disguising as Conservatives!
I am a free thinking, intelligent CONSERVATIVE American and a Republican who will vote for who ever gets my party's nomination for President. I will also continue to support Rudy Giuliani and have ordered my Bumper Stickers and Lawn Signs after reading some of the garbage posted here.
A conservative who supports a socialist candidate who is pro abortion, pro illegal immigration, anti 2nd amendment rights and is against the Defense Of Marriage Act? You have been at the wrong site all along.

You got it Chuck.
The term RINO is used as a pejorative in simplistic saber-rattlings, not reasoned debate. Someone else kindly pointed this out to me last week and it took a bit to sink in.
Why should I take offense at being called a RINO? I am a RINO! I’m also a student of conservatism. The Republican party is the original “big tent” party. It is the mechanism for my participation in American politics. Like it or not, the current paradigm is a two party system. I certainly have NOTHING in common with the Dhimmis, so that leaves me the Republican party to further my aspirations. It is a grossly inexact system, but what are you gonna do?
The problem we face today is that some are saying that we must abandon our conservative principles and “go with the flow”. No thank you. “The Republican Party must reach out to the left if we are to pick up the votes we need in order to win”. Win what, exactly?!
What is the point of “winning” the battle and losing our souls?
That might make me a RINO, or paleo-whatever, but I have a thick skin (and a firm grip on my principles).
