The cost of the journey is covered by corporate and individual donations, plus donations of food, the sails and marine ropes.

Geez, I'd like some corporations to fund my 1,000 day vacation in an RV...

Let’s start a pool. I say she’ll kill him by day 220. He has the bulk, but she’s got the speed. ;)

"They are both nutZ!"

I think you may be on to something. His ship looks to be an old, wooden scow!

I say good for them and I wish them a wonderful and safe adventure!

So many people in this life are quick to say you can’t do this or that or you’re crazy if you try, and it’s always refreshing to see people go and do it anyway. Life is short—and dull with no sense of adventure.

My guess is that the author meant the boat would round Cape Horn coming from the Pacific to the Atlantic on its way to the Indian Ocean. Rounding Cape Horn from the Atlantic to the Pacific in a sailboat is extremely difficult because the ship is riding against a fierce wind in very strong wave conditions.

“Pretty sad that her parents are a little worried about her sail itself but apparently unconcerned about her hooking up with this guy instead of marrying him.”

Quit reading things into the article. It doesn’t say that they approve of her relationship with this man. Good Lord...
