That's why Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the NAACP should keep the pressure on CBS to fire Imus. That's the only way to get the message across that racial insults are out of bounds -- even for highly paid shock jocks.

Maybe you are right.I read Dilliard’s book,Black English,way back in 1975 and he made assertions that seemed pretty well documented.
What I do notice is that middle class and educated blacks are pretty quick to make fun of the speech patterns of their less articulate brothers and sisters.

Frankly, after teaching for a year in a school that is 99% black, and putting up with the culture of attitude and disrespect, I have but one thing to say to all black people. Shut the f#$k up and quit complaining.
