How can you argue with this statement? “In my humble opinion — and this is meant as an observation, not a challenge — that disdain emerges from an almost subconscious conclusion that to believe in God too fervently betrays a certain intellectual infirmity.””

I find little there to argue with. The Bible clearly says pride contributes to unbelief.

But, if anyone says it's arrogant to have no doubts about one's own beliefs, I'd have to say he's wrong.

I see a knee-jerk sensitivity in the fact that they can’t even understand Rudy’s statement of support of religion, as posed in the topic of the thread.

He called for believers and unbelievers alike to avoid "the arrogance of having no doubts."

So, "having no doubts" about the existence of our Father in Heaven and in His Son, Jesus Christ, is "arrogance" according to Rudy Giuliani?!! He's calling devout, believing Christians "arrogant".

I have NO DOUBT about God and Jesus Christ. I similarly have NO DOUBT that Giuliani is a flaming liberal. Call me arrogant.

Understandable.

When it comes to courts, however, I wouldn’t trust Giuliani on that matter. And should the Islamic terrorists come en masse over here, RKBA will be the dam by which we ward off the flood.

I do not trust Rudy on RKBA.

"From my statement posted to FR's home page many moons ago:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

If you can't figure out my answer to Rudy, you're lacking an important understanding of FReep."

Good thinking. Maybe now you’ll get behind the most seasoned expert in military affairs and warfare for CIC, instead of a liberal mayor.

I believe most people have doubts. To say differently says we're not human.

....Maybe I'm missing something but, I see little justification for the tone of your response.

Forgive me.

Sorry, I forgot to use very small words for Rudi supporters.

Rudi is a very bad Catholic. He is a bad husband and a bad father. He is very public. This makes Catholics look bad.
_________

Really? That Rudy behaves as he does has absolutely no bearing on what I think of Catholics or Catholicism. He is human, thereby flawed. That is not the fault of his religion, nor does it have any negative backwash on the religion itself, or its other adherents. But that’s just me.

What is clear from the sum of Giuliani’s thoughts about many subjects is that he is an intellectual. That he thinks. That he doesn’t respond to issues like a Pavlovian dog panting for the voter’s and the critics’ rewards.

His worst “sin”, is that he makes an assumption that is unappreciated by those who like their politicians to recite knee jerk bromides- that his listeners- and potential voters- are intelligent, are open to ideas, and are intellectually curious.

What makes him unique is that he combines that intellect with a streetwise highly competent ability to lead and to govern.

“Its a shame this post will be corrupted soon. Oh wait... it already has been...”

Yep, it all began with post #1. This filthy liberal propaganda continues to corrupt this FR forum hour after hour from some of the most dedicated liberals in America.

Conservatives do NOT vote for liberals...not now...not ever!

Since when did this stop being a discussion board and start being the land of the lock-step?
