In fact, he sang the praises of RB Ginsburg He didn't sing the praises. He just said she was a good lawyer and she probably is. You don't go around slamming people like you do on FR when you are in politics. Slamming women is not what men do. Unless you are a wimp.

Please explain to me the logic of Rudy nominating judges that he fundamentally disagrees with on just about every issue. I still don’t understand how or why someone would do that .

First of all if he loses - I have said numerous times and Pissant can attest to this that I will support the nominee. And SECOND Rudy will not run as a third party. He is a Republican and will always be a Republican. He will more than likely campaign for the winner himself if he loses. He’s not a sore loser.

Sorry, but I am not going to BELIEVE anyone who supports Rudy Guiliani this early out with him having already made so many contradictory statements. According to you, the country is turning liberal and only a liberal can win in ‘08. You support your liberal, I will vote for the conservative, even if he only receives 2 votes. I do not change my principles.

that he fundamentally disagrees with on just about every issue Because he doesn't personally like abortion. He knows the only way to get rid of it is to nominate judges and the judges will let it go to the states (which he knows will be the case). But for now it's legal and we cannot do anything about it until the judges are in place. Crying and screaming about it won't change a thing.

Clarence Thomas was confirmed by a DemonRat Senate with a larger majority than the current senate. Scalia was 98-0. That won't happen this time.

The country is not turning liberal but if you look at the stats there are more Democrats in this country than Republicans. I think it’s because the Youth is registering as Democrats and so are Hispanics.

Thomas was barely confirmed, and would not have been confirmed if he was white. I believe the vote was 52-48. Also, there were more moderate Democrats in the Senate at the time. Scalia was confirmed by a Republican Senate. It was also pre-Bork. The Bork nomination in 1987, or rather the Rats’ vicious response to it, was the beginning of the current, heightened stage of judicial politics. Also, at the same time the Senate was unanimously confirming Scalia, there were 25 or 30 votes against Rehnquist — who was already on the Court — for chief justice. In other words, the Rats picked their battle, focusing on someone who seemed to be an easier target. Normally, there are not two nominations at a time. In addition, if a liberal justice retires, it will be absolutely clear that control of the Court will be at stake. I don’t believe that was ever so clearly the case with previous nominations. Your facts appear correct, but I'm not buying Frum's implication that Rudy will, in seeking to appoint supposedly tough on WOT and tough on crime judges, just happen to also appoint pro-life judges. Rudy is avowedly pro-abortion, and I have no reason to think he will not appoint pro-abortion judges.

I agreed with Frum until this week. If Rudy favors taxpayer funded abortions, then he opposes the Hyde Amendment, no matter what he may say. If Rudy had a Democrat Congress, as looks likely, what would he do if they sent him a bill to repeal the Hyde Amendment or the partial-birth abortion ban? Now, I’m not so sure he would veto them.

Much more polarized political climate.

I am not giving up. I still believe Republicans can win in ‘08. So I am not giving up my core principles on abortion simply on a hunch that young people and hispanics might actually turn aout to vote for a change.

It was pretty polarized with Reagan— the dems HATED him. They ridiculed him much like Bush. But he got it done. So can the right Republican in ‘08. Rudy is not right.

Rudy Rationalization. Or Rudy spin. That's like, when liberals claim that extremely cold days are also because of global warming because the gulf stream has changed and now it's actually colder.
Rudy's support of Roe is supposed to make him likelier to nominate a conservative justice?

It really is polarized.
I think GWB has left us in a leadership vacuum - his
‘can’t we all get along’ attitude is not satisfying anyone - and it’s
not defeating anyone.
As a result - we’re all flying off the handle at one another.
Hard to watch.

They were talking about what makes a good JUDGE. They weren’t talking about who you want to represent you in a trail. Thinking that that ACLU liberal, pathetic leftist makes a good judge is vile. One more thing you sweep under the rug.
