I assume your reference is to WW2.... I believe we would be speaking English or possibly Russian as it was the Soviets who more or less defeated Germany.... After their defeats on the Eastern front, the German nation was crippled. The USAs entry into the fray 3 years after the start of the war was merely the coups de grace! But thankyou America for all the help you gave us at the time and also for all the wonderfull how America won the war movies that have followed.

Nonsense. Without our material aid, Lend Lease to you and to the Russians, for that matter, you would not have been able to hold out in 1940. You would not have been able to feed yourselves or arm yourselves. Hitler would have put off having his go at Uncle Joe to finish you off.

The German army lost approx 80% of its 4.5 million dead on the eastern front....... (That was against Russia and Poland). This to me suggests that this is where the hardest work for victory was done.

Hitler started to finish us off in 1940, but unfortunately for your arguement, Britain and her allies (USA still had to wait 2 years to see if it was worth her while joining) defeated the Luftwaffe in the Air (Battle of Britain) in British built planes. And any Military scholar or schoolboy will tell you that an invasion without air support is doomed.......

Lend-Lease bill was not passed by senate untill March 1941, and did not start until later in the year.......

We do appreciate the efforts made by all our Allies (just dont see the point in re-writing history to score cheap points!)

Oh, and I do speak German... In the UK we call it education. chin chin sweety ;)

Unfortunately this cropped picture is the one most UK papers also chose to run...... I really dont understand this, our press is usually pro armed forces, this photograph makes them look like twits!
