Here's what is going to happen.. Bush has his sound bite, and 200 Dems will have theirs... Bush's sound bite on his authority of Commander in Chief and the war will not be answered in those 200 Dems responding, they'll just bring up the fact he's never vetoed anything for Pork... so which is going to have more life in the coming press Cycles?

The Presidents one time explanation of his Veto which included the reasons regarding the war.. or the 200 different press conferences and interviews the dems will all individually have quesitoning Bush and Pork?

This is how the press works folks... Bush should have owned the next news cycle, by simply playing to his strength... instead he's undermined himself a bit by this, and given the dems another round of attacks on him in a press cycle.

That's the reality, wish it wasn't, but that's how it is.

He signed bills sent to him by the Republican Congress. Should he have made enemies of the one coalition he needed to govern this country. You are advocating a policy of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Should he have done that? Really?

See - you, all full of piss and vinegar think he should have swaggered into Washington and shown those traitorous Dems who's the boss. Why, just the right word would have shamed them and put them in their place.

Let's set the record straight. The Dems aren't traitors - they are the elected representative of their states and districts. We may vigorously disagree with them, but running around calling them traitors do not make them so. They are necessary for the governing of this country. As much as I despise Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry, they aren't going anywhere because the good people of Massachusetts keep re-electing them. They can't be insulted, ignored, or bullied. They are a necessary part of the government. They were in power long before the President arrived and will be there long after he is gone. They can't be shamed because they have no shame.

You are placing the blame on the wrong person. It belongs on the House and Senate Republicans who refused to stand up to the Dems. They were his governing partners. They let him down terribly. But never fear... we taught them a lesson in 2006. Now, he stands alone. Political Courage? Oh, yes... George W. Bush has it by the ton.

As for you and me... we post on an Internet forum... we are not even in the same league with the President when it comes to courage.

Actually, I'm in Tel Aviv where those missiles are presumably headed. (We just had a missile drill on Tuesday) So, I do have a vested interest in this.

I just don't happen to think that arresting the Iranian President is the solution to the Iraqi problem.

And I don't think it is a sign of strength to "smack him down" so I can feel better about myself.

Everything in its time and place. Iran will get what is coming to them. I can wait to see the job done correctly and not half-@ssed.

I do not know the details...just that Bush is fighting back against the dims in a dramatic and effective way...
He is letting the world know how un-serious the dims really are at defending American...vs. feathering their selfish interest, by trying to force the President to take it or leave it attitude in the narrowly passed supplemental bill loaded with PORK, not our troops and their mission to WIN! to protect the United States of America, as he is alone tasked to manage as the Commander in Chief...the Poker Player finally got back into the Game...and by Damn if he waivers on this stand we lose 2008!

Making nice has not worked with the press, the dims, or the American people...in my opinion...You can be firm and resolute in your stance without giving up your principles...
