It is called a SURAGATE. The preservationist wackos out in the western US did the same thing with the spotted owl in the 1980's. They successfully stopped logging on public timberlands.
When that didn't work anymore they used the cutthroat trout. In other areas they are using some stupid woodpecker.
The problem is they have the media on their side.

Ever since the IPCC report came out we have gone into a deep freeze. Perhaps the report worked and solved the global warming problem. We should congradulate them on a job well done and tell them to go home and find a real job now.

My liberal girlfriend tries to make the argument that these extreme temperatures are proof of global warming. Of course, she's been spoonfed that nonsense.

Al is about to stage the big rock concert to get the message out -- because kids only get to know the really important message stuff at rock concerts. Yeah, the creme du la creme of rock concert bands will be be doing their part to spread the global message while standing up for the sex, drugs and rock & roll & limos & money & groupies & mindless hedonism & the who gives a sh*t and F U attitude. These socially mind people really know how to spread the message. When they are not doing the message spreading thing then it's really all about them, and TV cameras and mics pointing at them, and people talking about them, and then just them talking about themselves. So Al Gore really got the right people after all, the same people John Kerry got to spread his message. It's all about them, not US but THEM.
