"The last time I checked rape wasn't a Constitutional form of punishment."

FR has it's share of sadists who enjoy nothing more than dreaming up imaginative and gory punishment for lawbreakers. I am not surprised that some would think rape was an appropriate punishment for DWI.

Pointing to legal executions as justification for prison rape

How in the world did you come to that conclusion?

Thanks, sorry I didn't know the name of the agent other than Ramos. Don't read about this too much because it p*sses me off too bad how these men are being treated.

Who said it was?

Why are prisons places where criminals can continue criminal behavior? Why is sexual abuse in prison a matter of some humor for late night entertainers? Why is that abuse something to be grinned at, rather than ended? If our prisons can't enforce behavior, then there is something very very wrong with them and with the governments that administer them.

Where did it say it happened in a Fed prison?

TE: Revenge is the path of fanatic elitists

P-40: It is also one of the main reasons for the death penalty.

You stated your rationale for equivalence quite clearly.

No, I stated four of the five reasons why we put people in prison in the first place.

"Don't violate the law. Don't get thrown in prison."

There are thousands of innocent people in prison in the US. DNA evidence alone has overturned hundreds of convictions of innocent people. While convictions of innocents is rare, it happens, and no one is completely safe. You have a better chance of being convicted of a crime you did not commit than of winning the lottery, or of being hit by lightning.

What an apalling tale. People go to Gaol "as" punishment for crime, not "for" punishment. The punishment is the removal of most of life's choices for a lengthy period of time. Gang rape by inmates should never be a part of that equation.

Great thread -- thanx for posting!

Don't you think the majority of men say the same thing? I know I would. But the cold hard truth is if they want it they can, and will take it. They will bring the whole bunch just to break you down. It leads to suicide as you can imagine. Now this largely depends on where you are locked up but my no means rare.

"Sorry, bub. If I ended up in the slammer and was targetted for rape, they would first have to kill me. I'd fight with every inch of life left before I'd allow that. I'd rather die a man than survive as someone's woman."

Pay does not need to be raised for prison guards, however accountability for their failure to do their job needs to be.

My solution to prison problems is to make each prison separate and by itself with no more than 100 prisoners. Segregated as well.

For those that threatened it on me, I replied with a brief statement. "I get out before you, and if you do anything to me, then whatever life you were thinking of going to when you get out will no longer exist."

"And, for the record, I also agree that those who glibly say, "Well, obey the law..." are dangerously naive."

They are just stupid.

The context of your comment is not lost. It is written in your posts. The subject here is prison rape and your posts clearly show that you were addressing that subject.

FWIW I reject the 'revenge' motive for the death penalty just as much as I reject it for looking the way in prison rape.(or 'not caring' if that's the semantic sophistry you want to use) Claiming that our legal system validates 'revenge' (which I don't believe) is still just an excuse for your attitude. Why else would you have posted it when you did?

I doubt the inmates would give you the option of fighting to the finish. Bad Guys aren't known for gentlemanly duels, one-on-one.

If they wanted you bad enough, you would probably be bashed senseless by multiple attackers. Or sucker-punched from behind. They'd then do whatever they liked with you. And the next time it would be even easier for them because both of your arms might be in a sling.

Exactly. I think specifically of two black men who just recently were exonerated due to DNA evidence that we had not been able to test 15 years ago when they were incarcerated.

While I do believe some people are so beyond evil they deserve whatever they get in prison and more, I also know that the Lord himself tells us to pray for those in prison and, certainly, He wants us to do so because He knew many would be sent there as innocent lambs to the slaughter.

I simply don't understand why they can't have prisons based on crimes so that a DUI inmate wouldn't be in with hardcore people, though, in no way am I excusing DUI.
