If I get thrown in prison for spreading the Gospel sake, I know my life is saved forever. But for DUI, I will expect something else.

Revenge is the path of fanatic elitists
It is also one of the main reasons for the death penalty.

Frankly, doesn't matter if someone is guilty or not...any kind of rape is unacceptable. Prisons need to get this under control, period.

you are perfectly fine with that person being raped over and over again as part of their sentence?
Did I say I was? I did however say that I do not have any sympathy for the individual in question...so I am not interested in what happened to him.

The truth is that assault is common in prison for lots of reasons beside rape... Yup, and that's not OK either.

Not because you say it is. But you digress. The reason you brought it up was to excuse your own lack of respect for human dignity by pointing to someone else's.

Upon release, male prisoner rape survivors bring with them a lot of baggage that makes them much more likely to be violent upon release. I'd be violent. I'd track the guys who raped me down, douse them with gasoline and enjoy listening to their dying screams as they roasted to death.

Or maybe something along the lines of Vlad the Impaler. That might be better now that I think about it.

I had read somewhere that one of the dirtbags who dragged that poor man to death in Texas back before the 2000 election was a white guy who did time and was sodomized by black inmates.
If that is true then the prison who allowed that to happen shares in the blame for that man's gruesome death.

"Don't violate the law. Don't get thrown in prison."
A guy here in Atlanta was just released after DNA evidence proved him innocent. He had been in prison 21 years.

I personally know of 2 innocent people (a man and a woman) who were threatened with sexual assault while in jail on false charges. They were both emotionally traumatized and in both cases, it was just the
threat of rape. This is no joke.
I think it's reasonable to argue that any prisoner who is convicted of committing rape while incarcerated, ought to get the death penalty.

"You foolishly think prison is only for criminals. Read the bible and look at the saints that get thrown into prison."
Great response.
To: TigersEye
Not because you say it is.
There are whole fields of study related to why we sentence people to prisons. The "five r's" are from them.

"Prison is supposed to be a punishment, not a playground for violent perverts. When we allow prisoners to engage in serial rape, we are failing in our duty to impose on them the punishment prescribed for their crimes."
Ah, good point.
To: EndWelfareToday
I think you missed the points that (1) innocent people do get put in jail (f you don't believe this, it may be a function of the part of the country, or even the neighborhood, you're from), and (2) it is wrong to put anyone in a position where they're likely to be raped, lawbreaker or not.
