A very kind comment. We need still more of that on Free Republic.

State Treasurer Mike Coffman confirmed Wednesday he walked away from a pro-war rally with Congressman Tom Tancredo because of questions about Tancredo's failure to serve in Vietnam.
Coffman, a former Marine who saw action in the first Persian Gulf conflict more than a decade ago, left the Colorado Capitol stage in what he described as a personal protest...
"I just didn't feel (Tancredo) had the moral authority to send other young people off to war when he was not willing to go himself."
Thanks for posting this information.
Thanks for the kind comments about Rep. Tancredo and his supporters.
What potential candidate or candidates for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination do you believe would make a good president?
Why? This site exists to make sure as few liberals as possible are elected and seeks donations for that purpose.
Me.
I would be ruthless but fair.
But ruthless.
So - I just got an email with info that is not so rosey regarding Tancredo. I came here and did a search to see if I could find any reference to the info, and found none. The record of his vote does appear to be accurate:

Why are you afraid to say what potential canddate or candiadates for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination you believe would make a good president?
It would be interesting to see a copy of the e-mail that you received. What organization sent the e-mail?
Rep. Tancredo received a rating of "A" from Gun Owners of America for the 2006 election. Here is a link to its ratings of Colorado candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives: http://www.gunowners.org/vgco06.htm.
Rep. Tancredo was awarded a grade of "A" for the 2006 election by the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Rep. Tancredo is a strong defender of ths second amendment.
Is there a particular candidate for president that you are comfortable with regarding the second amendment?

We don't need Florida anyway...
Hey, hey! Don't confuse the Tancredo crowd with any facts...that kinda throws some serious salt in their game, so to speak...
From a 2nd Amendment point of view, Ron Paul looks pretty good. He's also really good on immigration.
But as far as the email is concerned, I will have to get back on my desktop to copy/paste it into a post here.
In the meantime, I received the email from a pretty radical conservative (many would say a right-winger). He has previously been quite supportive of Tancredo.
It was a forwarded email, though.
it isn't too hard to verify Tancredo's vote - it is public record - and was listed at the linked page.
FWIW
Thanks for your comments.
I do not agree with Rep. Tancredo's vote in 1999 on the mandatory gun show background checks. However, I believe he is an extremely strong proponent of the second amendment. Receiving an "A' from both the NRA and the GOA is a very good indication of that.
Rep. Paul has been an outstading supporter of the second amendment. I believe that one could say the second amendment has no stronger supporter in U.S. House than Rep. Paul.
I do have a disagreement with some of his votes related to immigration, though. Here is a link to a summary of his voting record on immigration issues: http://profiles.numbersusa.com/improfile.php3?DistSend=TX&VIPID=787 . I am particularly troubled by his support on three (3) separate occasions in 1997, 2001 and 2002 for the Section 245(i) amnesty for illegal aliens.
Overall, though, Rep. Paul has a good record on immigration. He is certainly a true conservative on most issues. I admire much of what Rep. Paul has done while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
If Rep. Paul were elected president, there would certainly be someone occupying the White House that would make a serious effort to protect our second amendment rights.
You didn't ask that. Read again what you asked. The answer to your question is: me.
In post number 26, I asked the following: "What potential candidate or candidates for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination do you believe would make a good president?".
In post number 30, I posted the following: "Why are you afraid to say what potential canddate or candidates for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination you believe would make a good president?".
What present or former governor, present or fomer mayor, present or former member of the United States House of Representatives or present or former member of the United States Senate that is a potential candidate for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination do you believe would make a good president? The 2008 GOP presidential nominee will come from someone with this background.
I am asking about potential candidates for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination that are running or are seriously considering a run for the presidency, not about you.
You've previously posted that you like Duncan Hunter.
What do you think of Duncan's Hunter's voting record with regard to spending taxpayer dollars?
Well, if you care so much about what I think, then why not want me for president?
You are afraid to answer the question I posed in post number 37. It is a very simple question.
