I thank God everyday he and Cheney were in charge instead of the dems. I hope our 08 nominee has the guts to fight the WOT too

Agree 100%.

It all adds up, and the input sums are correct. It really is 2+2, and it really equals 4.

In the SOTU speech, Bush mentioned "climate change" and dems think he means "global warming". I wonder if this is their idea of global warming...

Question: I can understand Biden text messaging info to
help Jim Webb with his response, but why was John McCain
texting during the President's speech? Hmmmmmmmmmm?
Makes me wonder what side he's on. Wait. No it doesn't.
Right or wrong, McCain will always choose the side most
popular with the media.

Sam... Sorry to hear about your friend's near misses with Quinine.

companies with large union work forces are stuck contractually. but unions are a small percentage of the US private labor pool, the rest of those companies are already making changes to their health plans on their own to share costs with the employee. they don't need an additional kick in the pants from a government tax to "help" them. they could however, benefit from a medical 401K program - to give their employees choices.

I do not agree with the President on everything though I agree with him on the vast majority of things. I try to refrain from criticizing him on this great forum because even if there are some freepers who make "constructive criticism", the flood gate will be opened for the Bush Bashers.

That's certainly your choice. But I hardly think it's appropriate for you to malign or attempt to marginalize those who choose to offer "constructive criticism". I seldom if ever criticize the administration without offering my logic. As far as I'm concerned that's appropriate, and if a thread is filled with rational criticism of the administration then so be it. On the flipside, when people criticize Pres. Bush without defending their position then by all means call them on it.

"He mentioned something about frivolous lawsuits against the medical profession. The dems didn't like that idea."

If he said this I missed that line. Must have sneezed. Good, that's just the kind of thing he should be talking about. He gets one point on the scoreboard.

Thanks for your comments on the healthcare proposal. Every bit of light on this subject is appreciated.

Once again this President is highlighting entrepreneuralship - the lady who owned the Baby Einstein company. Good!

I couldn't believe W shook hands with our favorite buffoon Dennis Kucinich. That was rather painful too see!!!!!

Did you notice how the democrats who butcher the President 24/7 were stepping on each others to shake his hand. They simply do not have any shame.

There was NOTHING about "subsidized" health care!

Are you being SUBSIDIZESD, when you write off your mortgage interest? Oh, never mind, yes, you are and that's a lousy example anyway.

Do you think she did it purely as a gag? To take attention away from Mr. President?

I admit, she was fascinating!!

"so what, the point is - THOSE PEOPLE HAVE COVERAGE. leave them alone, the problem with the system isn't people who have coverage, ITS PEOPLE WHO DON'T."

Thank you, oceanview, for a breath of sanity into this discussion. You get it. Wish others had the capability to figure out what you have so succinctly put forth. Geez, and I thought this point would be SO obvious to Freepers.

The Democrats would never let that happen........unless we defeat them soundly.

I know - which is why it would be a great tactic to propose it. We need to differentiate our positions in order to give the electorate a reason to vote for the GOP.

I thought the whole explanation of this proposal was needlessly confusing. A "401k" for healthcare is simple and readily understandable.
