My understanding reading this thread is that they did NOT blow up the "C4", but just a small deliberate detonation to open the "package" so they could check it better.

For those who really don't know, a golf ball sized piece of C-4 with a blasting cap would easily take down a jumbo jet with hundreds of passengers.

That is correct. I have yet to hear any report about what was inside that package, if anything. Only report was that they had opened the package and then were going to use a robot to determine the contents.

WOW. I don't understand why the all clear was given if they tested it 6 times and it was positive? So are they saying that it's no longer there? Is it on its way to Phoenix?
