do you have no belief in the grassroots?
Yeah, if your an illegal alien. But what if you are an American?
Christian values all of a sudden trumps telling little false hoods to win an election. You need to do your research first then spout your Christian values.
Sam Brownback is a big-government conservative (only slightly less so then Huckabee). He's even taken, along with Huckabee, to calling himself a "happy conservative". I.e., even more liberal fiscally then "compassionate" conservatives. I like the guy alot, but his particular interpretation of Christianity, and the statements he's made in that vein, lead me to have absolutely no confidence he's capable or willing to do anything about runaway spending. Just another stealth fiscal liberal.
Thank you for the correction.I did say I was almost sure.If Duncan Hunter is truly 100% pro life then he would be excellent.
I wonder if he is for over turning Roe vs Wade?? Many people say they are against partial birth abortion. He will certainly tell us soon.
I must have just assumed he was only a fiscal conservative because he is from the West coast.
Nominating a Kansan is a sure prescription for defeat (to wit, Bob Dole and Alf Landon). We're going to win Kansas' whopping 6 electoral votes unless the Democrats carry 45+ states. Why not nominate someone who can add blue sstates, rather than subtract red ones?
I believe in the Constitution of the United States which provides for the election of the President by the Electoral College. 270 votes by electors are required to win the office. That is our goal.
I want to win.
Didn't BushI hail from Maine....about 3 or 4 electoral votes?
And Clinton was from Arkansas....not so many electoral votes.
The issue is viability more than anything else. Brownback, IF he's good in front of a camera and microphone, can bring the social conservatives (like myself) online.
Rudy will lose New York, imho. I don't think there's any outstanding Republicans hailing from a Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania or Ohio who have thrown their hats in the ring.
43 was born in Connecticut and spent his entire adult life in Texas, which has 34 electoral votes. Texas has become a safe Republican state, if the party can temper its recent anti-Hispanic stance, but remains the nation's second most populous.
If that's what you are "certain" of , I wouldn't take your advice on a presidential pick. Maybe some facts would help you. We got in the mess we're in because of emotional voting. Let's get it right for once.
BROWNBACK IS PRO OPEN BORDERS, SPONSORED THE SENATE BILL FOR AMNESTY!

I know Sam is the real deal. I was questioning Duncan Hunter because another poster was pushing him. I want to know about everyone and give them a fair chance.
There is a link to Hunter's website somewhere earlier on this thread. That's the post I was responding to when I made the statement about word-play. It looks like he is pro-life, though again, with word-play being what it is in politics, we would need more details. So far so good, but I want to know how he applies it in more detail. I need a lot more info about Hunter. Brownback I already know about. I know the few places I disagree with him, and I know where we agree. He is a man of his word and doesn't try to be on all sides of the issues just to get more votes.
Hunter is pro life and against the stem cell issue

The above is a link on Hunter's positions
As a Vietnam war vet and his son who served two tours in Iraq in the Marines his support and spending for the Military is his top area of support.
As Chariman of the Armed Services Comm. he told all to pack a bag we are going to Gitmo to sho the dems the Muzzies have it plush there.
Hunter came back and on National TV he told of the food and plush treatment they are getting at Getmo and changed a few minds of the dems on the committee

You can see where Hunter stands. Conservative Republican all the way
I'd be surprised if he deviates at all from the conservative social position; he is very much a Reagan-Republican in that respect. You can call his office though and I'm sure you'll get a reply. One thing I do know is that he's despised by the Sodomy Lobby.
BushI would be potus 41.
But, I think he's from Connecticut.
Sorry, I have been away from home today.
My thoughts on this is that now is the time for all of us to be honest about our candidates and why we would select one over the other. Now is also the time to pull out what you or anyone else may think is negative about a candidate but also have proof or a link why you may think such. We are all adults and don't take any of this personally.
We are all from different states and our daily experiences differ which influences our thoughts.
If you don't think illegal immigration or the comprehensive immigration bill is important let me know and I will explain to you in a rationale way what I think. We need to compare every issue with all the candidates over the next 2 years and not blindly support a candidate without knowledge of that candidate and his stance on the issues.
