"We were so afraid he would have a cleft lip," she said. "But hes absolutely beautiful." That fear had prompted Rodriguez, 35, and her husband, Serafin Cortez Torres, 25, to leave Michoacan, Mexico, for Columbus four months ago.
Well folks, the United States is officially toast. This isn't a story from LA or Houston, it's from Columbus. And the media loves it. No mention of legality, no care about who pays for this. Nope. That waould be "racist" and "bigoted."

You know, illegal immigration is a problem.
But do you really think EVERYONE from Mexico is illegal? I know many LEGAL immigrants from Mexico.

My husband was born with a cleft palate," Rodriguez said through an interpreter. "So was his daughter from a previous relationship. Who's caring for the daughter back in Mexico while you and your boy-husband pursue your dream up North?

Read between the lines, FRiend. They left Mexico four months ago over fears of the baby having a possible birth defect. They have only been together as a couple for a year. Do you think they put in the paperwork and did the visa interviews and...
Think about it.

Oh, I'm sure any Avocado picker in Mexico who walked into a U.S. consulate and asked for a visa so that his unborn child could have the best medical care, would get one no problem.

A fair point. But WHO is paying for the medical care? The infamous, faux-free "Emergency Room" pocketbook?

You're right! They SPECIFICALLY came to the US with the intentions of foisting the cost of corrective surgery onto the US taxpayer!

Rodriguez had planned to work, too, but broke both her ankles shortly before leaving Mexico.A very common injury from jumping over fences.

Since moving to the North Side, Torres has worked nights cleaning a store. Rodriguez had planned to work, too, but broke both her ankles shortly before leaving Mexico.I guess we can figure she didn't go on foot across the border..She probably just overstayed her VISA.
And if anyone on this thread thinks they aren't ILLEGAL, they are naive.

My son was born at the same hospital almost 4 1/2 years ago on Flag Day and has since been raised on a constant diet of patriotism. He views soldiers as heroes and Christopher Columbus as a brave and great man. He has been taught America's traditions and history and has been taught to be proud of them. I wonder if little Miguel will be taught the same way. My guess is that his little head will be filled with stories of America's greed, mistreatment and unfairness.
America....it was good while it lasted.
