No, I do not work for these "Schmucks." I am just telling it like it is. If you choose to ignore the facts, confirmed in this piece by this Marine, then you certainly have the right to remain blissfully ignorant of the nature of our enemies, or at least some of the toughest of them.

Our troops should not be on the roads anyway and subject to IEDs. We should stay out in the desert and if an Iraqi saw an American Soldier or Marine it means that said Iraqi is about to die. We must make the Iraqis so afraid of us that they forget their hatred of one another. But we do not have the stomach for that.

Telling it like it is? That the terrorists are tough guys? Mostly they are hard drug addled monsters in need of immediate killing. Romanticizing their worthless history or fighting prowess is counterproductive.

actually we have a new system called mlrs I believe. It is gps guided multiple rocket launcher with range of 40 plus miles.............

Lockheed Martin developed a new extended-range guided rocket GMLRS which has a range of over 70km. The GMLRS XM30 rocket has a GPS (Global Positioning System) and inertial guidance package and small canards on the rocket nose to enhance accuracy.

This is the system taking Iraq by storm from my understanding. When the bad guys go into their house/building to hide, we just paint the target to get gps co-ordinates and transfer to the nearest rocket launch system. They can take out the target from 70km away and the accuracy is stunning. Being used more and more because packs more punch than a tank round, and has much less chance of collateral damage from a jdam launched from a plane. Takes less than 30 seconds to reach the target and the bad guys never know it is coming.

There are Chechens both in Pakistan and Iraq, but mostly they are staying home to fight the russians. They were very active in Bosnia as well

Thank you for that really well thought out reply. I'm sure that you'll go far in life with your strong command of military history, much as Patton did when analyzing his country's enemies, their histories, and their fighting capabilities.

They use handheld GPS units for navigation and "Googleearth" for overhead views of our positions.

Unless Google is both supplying hi-resolution images of Iraq, and updating those images on an ongoing basis, I don't see how it would be useful beyond a very basic understanding of the terrain.

My house is not visible on Google Earth, as it's out in the boonies, where Google Earth's resolution is extremely low.

I know enough not to brag on scumbag terrorists. Terrorist are terrorists and good people are good people I am sure there are good Chechyans and I am sure there are non-Chechyans who are fierce and fight to their drug addled life's conclusion. The NK were the last bunch of fearless fighters. Or was it the Japanese Bushido. No, make that the Zulus. Wait, don't forget the Aztecs. Greece Hoplites were some bad mofos. Don't get me started on Alexander's pikesmen. 7 foot tall Macedonians with an attitude!

They all bleed.

And futhermore anyone without a conscience can do some serious harm in this world. Even Pee Wee Hermann. Doesn't take a strong man to fight dirty. Just the opposite.

Yeah, my house is visible on Google earth but the snow on the ground is a little suspect since it hasn't snowed here since last February. Not sure how Google Earth would give much intel.

He's right. You NEVER see or hear this reported by the DBM. Never will. The only way this will ever end is by continuous lousy ratings(TV) and subscriptions (Newspapers). I used to get the LA Times just for he Sunday crossword. Not anymore.

It is an interesting "in-country" view of things. I first got this in e-mail about two years ago. The version I got was much longer and detailed comparisons and evaluations of all the typical small arms used by both American forces and "insurgents."

I hope to return to Iraq with my unit very soon. From what I am hearing there is going to be a large build up in Iraq for that final blow to the islamist. My Unit is already on stand by alert. I have to get cleared for active duty before I can return to my Unit. I am working over time to get back there BEFORE my Unit moves out.

It is long past due that we take the fight to the enemy in a way that will boggle even the terrorists worst nightmare!

Airborne all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awsome link, thank you. This was exactly what I was talking about. The original invention was German so i see our allies are giving us something in return (finally).
