Andy Williams has a British accent? ;^)
we have one doing 24- 7 Christmas music here in West Texas............. I love it!
A station here in Detroit started playing Christmas music back in November. My only complaint is the limited songs they keep playing over and over and over. Cripes! There's tons of Christmas CD's out there, expand the programming.........
One can almost never tell that when singing! (Which means the American form IS the purer! LOL)
Ya went and did it that time pal! I finally got that song out of my head after 2 weeks and now its back.........
I will amen that. I sincerely doubt that anybody who listens to the popular "music" of today could hum any bar of that crap, which seems to consist of untalented "singers" belting out noise.
I kind of wonder what the oldies stations in the future are going to do once they're faced with playing the "hits" of the 1980s, 1990s, etc. Who in the hell can remember stuff that has no melody?
At this time of the the year I do enjoy the Christmas Carols/songs. But I do sincerely wish they would change up the playlists from year to year. The same 30-40 songs for the last three years. I do suppose licensing/royalty rights play a big part in the choices. Can anyone, anyone give me some search assistance on a Christmas narrative-song???(name/title/year).
The narrative is about a man on a train, reminiscing about his childhood Christmas memories. The "turkey gravy hanging like a fog", "bringing in firewood", "grandma instructing grandpa how to crack walnuts, "sounding pretty good, sing around the piano",...etc...
Man's thoughts come back to the present and he notices across the train aisle, a woman silently crying..he gives her his coat..This narrative is similar to the soldier's thoughts on Christmas eve. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Here in the Seattle Area, we have...for the first time...TWO stations doing 24/7 Christmas music. One of them, KWRM, has been doing the Christmas thing for years, usually starting the week of Thanksgiving. This year, they started on Nov. 10th...the same day as KJR-FM, a station that has NEVER done it before. The rumor is that KJR’s going to switch formats from 60’s-70’s-80’s hits after Christmas.
KWRM plays a nice variety of well-known classics, newer stuff, and local favorites (”Sippin’ in Seattle’s Latte-Land”). KJR is doing mostly slower classics and gets hard to listen to sometimes.
As much as I enjoy Christmas music, I have a feeling I’ll be a little burnt-out by Christmas.
