Apart from banning a well-documented poison (hydrogenated oil), what habit has any legislature considered that would support your contention that "my habit is next"?
"Kalifornia voter"
Typical Ohio voter now, too. And Nevada and.....
I'm in Missouri and our little corner of the world just VOTED DOWN a smoking ban and a hefty tax increase on tobacco.
And the tobacco industry's massive misleading ad campaign recently paid off here as well, voters having been misled into thinking there would be a new tax increase on non-smokers.
Soon the only place they'll be able to blow smoke in public is on this forum!
Freedom won...
Really? What's "weak" about the exhaust analogy? Which would you rather be locked up in, a garage with a running car, or a thousand smokers? Pampered elitist liberals like yourself always ban things you simply "don't like", even though it causes you no actual harm. Would it be OK with you if homosexuality was voted down by the electorate?
Posting responses to yourself now. You finally found the only person with the right answers. Just look for "at bay" on any forum and answer and agree with him/her. That way you will alway be happy and the Center of the Universe.
Smoking Ban Enforcement On Hold
State will send letters reminding businesses that law is in effect.
Ohio) - The Ohio Department of Health got more that 2,600 calls to its smoking ban tip line on Thursday, the first day of the statewide ban. But there were messages to callers Thursday night that the voice mailbox was full.
However, there's no real enforcement yet. That has to wait until the department develops the guidelines and penalty statutes. That could take until the spring.
Meanwhile, attorneys representing a trade group that filed a lawsuit trying to block Ohios new smoking ban agreed to put their lawsuit on hold Thursday. The group agreed to that, in exchange for assurance that the state would not send any warning letters or issue fines before the law's rules are in place.
As of Thursday night, there were numerous reports of bars and other locations allowing smoking because the lawsuit had been filed. But spokesman Kris Weiss says the Ohio Health Department will send letters to alleged violators informing them that complaints have been made against them.
The smoking ban that went into effect Thursday was approved November 7 by 58% of Ohio voters. The state has until June 7 to complete the law's rules and regulations but hopes to have them in place in may.
The lawsuit filed Thursday by the Buckeye Liquor Permit Holders Association will remain on hold while the state works out the rules.
The group's attorney says it can still challenge the law later.
The Health Department says that despite the lack of enforcement, buildings and businesses are expected to comply.
Looks like the NAZIs have been busy snitching on their fellow citizens. This law only passed with 58% of the vote, remember.
Very sad and scary. I live very close to the PA line and the bars in this area are worried they will lose a lot of business. This is the back door way to close the bars, which is their intention.
Albert Knew...
"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."
Albert Einstein, "My First Impression of the U.S.A.", 1921
Honest Abe
"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), U.S. President.
Speech, 18 Dec. 1840, to Illinois House of Representatives
With over 700,000 thousand arrests a year in the U.S. for possession of illegal substance and our legal system tripling up there spaces , What will be done with the illegal smokers ? 22% of the American population were smokers in 2003. Current statistics say 26% and 46% occasional drinkers with better than 59% over weight 23% of that stat is obese. (1)Yet our time and tax dollars will be burdened with where and when we can light up. 1.stats from the CDC vital health statistics 2003 additional research from Lord Harris of High Cross and Sean Gabb 1988 Brad 2006
Try to control your urge to blow smoke in my face. You and I both know you're just blowin' smoke, and I ain't no Einstein but he'd say the same thing.
You strike me as a well educated person and your correct " you ain't no Einstein". I placed a quote up online with verification of its history and you some how claim that Einstein would say something different. "IT WAS HIS QUOTE"
P.S. You should read the report created by James E. Enstrom and Geoffrey C. Kabat after using the data from the American Cancer Institute on a 30 year study. It was reported in the BMJ ( British medical journal )
I would also like to say I have never blown smoke into someones face.
