I'm thinking about having another baby in 2007. There aren't enough conservatives in North Carolina (as illustrated by the recent elections ...)

Good Morning TC!

Another baby? How lovely!

Does Mr. Tax-Chick concur?

You haven't had any babies at all, DC!

It's a sympathy kind of thing. Don't I even get credit for trying to empathize? Sheeshh... ;-)

That was one of the coolest personal stories in the history of FR, IMO.

I had heard that Linux works well on machines with older hard drives and processors. Is it too big of a program for them to handle?

It depends upon the system (called "distros" or "distributions"). There are some that are configured to work on older, slower machines; there are also those that require a lot of horsepower. Of course, you get a lot more capability with the heavier-weight stuff.

I'm playing with Kubuntu 6.10 which (I think I've said) is as close to a user-friendly install as Windows, and is very similar in usage. It's also heavyweight -- it was a bit sluggish on this 4-year-old machine until I installed an accelerated graphics card. (Took OpenOffice Writer --Word look-alike-- a full minute to start up before, now it takes 15 seconds.)

After reading about Microsoft Vista's digital "rights management", I decided I'm sticking with Win98, Win2k and Linux for the foreseeable future.

Sound of one hand clapping.

Dang. Need a videocam. I can clap with one hand. Actually, each hand can clap separately. Not real loud, but more than just audible.

Did not amuse my grade-school teacher when I responded to that statement by clapping with one hand.

Good morning, sionnsar. 55 and raining here; I thought of you when I heard the soggy drizzle start ...

Thanks! No soggy drizzle here yet. In fact there's still snow around from Tuesday night's snowfall. Most unusual.

But have to get ready for church now...

Drive-by place marker!

Sunny and 57 today, no wind. YAY!!!

The Strip will be closed at 5:00 PM from Sahara to Russell Road, and all the exits on I-15 between those two streets will be closed as well. (About five miles) Now if I can just stay awake long enough to watch the fireworks on TV...

Mr Sousa says he has been working for six months on "some special fireworks" for tonight....

Of course, the Fremont Street Experience is going to have it's own show.
