If ever there was an example of cruel and unusual punishment, that is it.

Should have done it 10 yrs ago

Here we have Giuseppe Zangara. Committed his crime (murdering the mayor of Chicago while trying to kill FDR) on 15 February 1933. Fried on 20 March 1933. Less than five weeks!

Florida's death row was invented to accommodate Zangara. Before his case, they just had a single holding cell. But there was another convict already awaiting execution, so they had to add another cell. First time there was a backup!

Justice is not about revenge.

It may not be about OUR revenge, but it is sometimes about God's vengeance. He does sometimes use the state for that...

How awful that he has Cheated the Executioner! Now we don't get to experience the excitement of the Last Minute Reprieve.

That was a good post. There is no question that justice was both done and long delayed.

Johnson apparently scrawled words in blood on the wall of his cell, but prison officials would not say what he wrote.

He said that he wanted his '79 Toyota Camry and CD collection to go to his cousin Arrrrrgh.
